Thanks for the kind words brother. Honored to be part of the TMR team and yes, the PJ show was life-changing. “Get me back to Minnesota” Eddie Vedder

Fantastic video! Looks like a great store! I love those stores that call you back an additional day. When that happens, you find gold! I found a first US pressing of Black Sabbath on the olive green label for $34. It just needed a good wash with the goat hair (vinyl style deep groove washer) and it’s silent. Shocking! Congratulations on that Aphex Twin album! You being a record store now and supporting other record shops is awesome! Good things will happen for you! What goes around, comes around! Stay the course!

When you mentioned an awesome record store in Minnesota, I knew it had to be Mill City. Such and awesome store!

Dang, Mill City is my hometown store, you gave away our secret! Rob is amazing and everyone there does such a great job curating the releases. I'm so glad you went there and loved it. Thank you for going to Mill City and shouting them out. Did you stop by Down in the Valley in Golden Valley MN? While not as deep as Mill City, they do a nice job too. Some great finds! What do we do in MN on those cold cold Winter days? Spin vinyl.

Wow, I was surprised to hear you talk about happy body slow brain. For $15?! I did not pay that and unfortunately the records do not sound great but one the coolest records I own. Matt Fazi, the lead singer, was briefly in taking back Sunday which is what got me into them.

Agharta records is my go to! So many great albums! The owner is from over seas I believe, so they always have rare imports and super hard to find albums. I mean I got Mechanical Animals and Aenima last time I went! Some Ween! Love the store!! Oh and my cousin Adam works at Mill City Sound. He used to play bass (or maybe still does)

New subscriber! I was at Mill City about 4 years ago and once I saw the Beatles third state butcher cover on display, I knew I was "home". (Didn't have the 3K to purchase it, but oh well!) I did get a nice original mono pressing of Traffic's Mr. Fantasy, along with JA's Surrealistic Pillow and yet another Abbey Road that I don't need! I also hit Agharta which was pretty awesome, got some rare Beatles 45s there. Yes Electric Fetus wasn't all that, but I did see Sting there, and I did get McCartney III on white vinyl from them via mail order on day of release. Like others here I highly recommend Hymie's. Looks like yer typical hole in the wall store but lotsa cool finds (Beatles pic sleeves, Ramsey Lewis' Sun Goddess LP, etc.) and great service too. (Hey wait a minute, you got The Trooper 45 FOR FREE?!?)

I live in the Twin Cities and have the opposite opinions of the Fetus and Agharta. OK, the Fetus has fewer used records, that's true. However, their used selection is more curated. It's better if you're looking for very specific things (like jazz). Also, their prices are usually more reasonable than most places. The reason they have that gift shop is to bring in a wider audience. My wife and daughter have something to do while I dig for records. And it's smart business. Also, the Fetus is one of the very few places that has electronic inventory, so they can actually look up a record for you. At the other end of the spectrum is Agharta. I almost never go there. This might sound strange, but they have too many records. Their recent arrivals bins are too large and disorganized. You will spend 30-60 minutes flipping thru them, and for me that's just exhausting. On any given day you'll see half a dozen copies of Rumours. When you do finally run across something good, expect the sticker to be $10-20 more than the going rate. Furthermore, it's just a depressing place. It has that depressing record store vibe of the sad guy behind the counter hoping against hope that you'll buy something. Fetus is the polar opposite. I never feel guilty if I walk out empty-handed, and they don't care. Mill City is indeed great. How they find some of the stuff they have I'll never know, and it's a very pleasant place to shop. Although their prices on some of those items are often VERY high and you'll see the same records when you go back several months later because no one is paying $200 for a used Steely Dan UHQR. But I've found some truly unbelievable records there that are gems in my collection. Bottom line, we're blessed in the Twin Cities to have several outstanding options. A well-curated used selection is what sets our stores apart.

Not a fan of Fetus, especially after they abandoned Duluth (leaving us without a record store). I always assumed the person behind Mill City was a young guy. Yep, awesome record store! Check out Hymie’s and SolSta next time you’re in Minneapolis.

Maybe Warp will repress “SAW II” in 2024, complete with “Stone in Focus” AND the track that was later added to the digital version, as its 30th anniversary is next year! Or maybe Warner Records will do it in the USA-HA! Peace.

Fetus hasn't been a good record store for about 20 years. You have to go back to the 90s for when it was good. Also, weird that you don't want an artist to get paid for their work.

Agartha suck - they over price by 35% on new releases. Mill City is owned by a multi-millionaire. So they can afford to buy anything. Your post did nothing for the Twin City record buying public. Most already know about those two stores.
