It'd funny you mentioning that at the end with him not eating his own but I don't think starved is above murdering his own? I've always had this headcanon if starved ever interacted with GUN furnace and his badniks would cut em up and cook them only to leave the soldiers charred corpses out as a form of Psychological Warfare.
