Very nice interview with Katie. I did read that duolingo have not updated some errors when it comes to the irish language and perhaps that may cause confusion ? ? So i avoid it so as to not learn incorrect grammar

Ive always loved the idea of a wake at my funeral I don’t want people moping and crying I want people to laugh have fun enjoy themselves and remember all the good times they shared with me while I was alive. That’s what I would want. Celebrate my life don’t mourn my loss too much.

A Katie, Bhain mé an-taitneamh as d’agallamh le Emma! I admire how you have just jumped in to everything Bitesize has to offer! It was a few months before I worked up the courage to participate in a Beo session, and I regretted not doing it sooner! You are coming along so well. I agree with you completely about having a fantastic team to learn from, and I can relate to your feelings about Ireland and your feelings of connection with the language. Maith thú, a chara!

is there a gender-neutral pronoun available? for example: “they are an irish american” or would the masculine form also function as the gender-neutral form€
@BitesizeIrish2 күн бұрын
You could use third-person plural (iad/siad - 'they') as a gender-neutral pronoun: 'Is Gael-Mheiriceánach iad''. The fact that the noun is in the singular here makes it clear that you are referring to persons singular.

You are correct to say "Irish", Eoin. That is the correct term, both in the Constitution of Ireland, and in the linguistic literature. Saying "Irish Gaelic" is like saying "English Germanic" - a tautology. Irish is one of the Gaelic languages, as English is one of the Germanic languages, but there is no need to repeat that constantly. There is one and only one Irish language, the national language of Ireland. Americans can get it wrong, but Ireland, as independent country, decides the name of its own language.
