Another thing is that in America you have no choice in having car insurance while it is not required here and well American hospitals cost allot of money to get any treatment meanwhile you'll find public and private(basically like American hospital) and the only difference really is that the private hospitals are nicer, have better food if you have to stay for a few days etc

If you are in Johannesburg, you may google Arrie Nel pharmacy find out where their 24 hour pharmacies are. They have in Pretoria and they deliver . Pharmacies are very strict with medications because there is a problem with children buying some medication and mixing it with other things to get high.e.g. cough mixtures are a huge problem 24 hours grocery stores will not survive due to robberies. They close early for security reasons. Electricity is very expensive here, even middle class people cannot afford an AC. Us Black South Africans do not like AC's because they are cold and we are not really used to them. I cannot survive without an AC because I have lived in a place where an AC was a must because of the weather, I got used to it.

African countries simply don't have the kind of mass shootings that exist in America. It just doesn't exist. In south africa they have crime related gun crime, and gang violence is pretty much just cape town... but honestly most african countries we don't even think about that stuff. In Zimbabwe, we've had a well documented economic depression for 25 years....not a single act of gun violence.

Your comment is actually shitty because the South African economy has performed better than first world England for the past 15 years even with a growth of 0,8 and even with that measly growth it remains one of the most steadily growing economies in the past 30 years. Unemployment has direct links with education while production capacity and population have a more direct link with the economy. For a country of only 60 million. SA far outperforms many countries in the world with some glaring weaknesses in manufacturing. Inequality unfortunately is a result of a failed manufacturing sector which can only be changed by government policy which could put 25 million people into work in the textiles, and other high value beneficiation sectors in mining and other resource extractive sectors where raw material is simply exported. If you do this the country could quadrippple it's tax base and double it's economy but the ANC is locked into disgusting deals with European countries mainly which prohibit South Africa from expanding its manufacturing base. You put 25 million people into permant work in the manufacturing sector and this country would be first world in the next 20 years.

People denying that we pay school fees in Public schools. Guys we do pay maybe some don’t, but most we do pay . I went public schools in Soweto and I paid ( R500) a year, obviously it’s not a lot but in comparison to USA, they don’t pay at all unless it’s private. Taxes pay for those schools and their maintenance as well. South African government just need to do better. But what I don’t like about American schools is that if you live in the township, you’re not allowed to go to schools in the Suburbs, kinda Apartheid vibes. In terms of safety, School children are definitely safe in South Africa. In the US it’s mass shootings in schools every week, even two days ago there was a school shooting, Student shot kids in Cafeteria and went on to shoot himself.

@@nthabisengmametja7031 Clarity and understand our country's laws unfortunately missed some. Taylor put it to us that some of her friends pay for "school fees", which is true. She also said that she was of the opinion that "Education" in government schools was free but was informed that it's not, this is absolutely false. There is a difference between a "School" and "Education". "School fees" are NOT paid to the Department of Education or forwarded afterwards as collection, they are paid to the "School's administrators", thus they are called school fees, not a education fee. Even through multiple tiers of schools within the DET's list, NONE, ask parents to pay for education, but for the individual School's admission fee.

@nthabisengmametja7031 The Department is only responsible for the Education aspect, and will only intervene with the PTA if it is of national importance, as the Afrikaans School issue that forced the state to introduce the BELA Act. During schooling years, Administrators and Teachers are responsible for drafting quarterly and annual examinations that are with the national syllabus spectrum. They are also responsible for marking Tests and Examinations conducted, within the school, by probably Teachers who taught that specific subject. The state chooses to have no interference in that exercise until the student's Matrix/Final exam, which is published freely on numerous newspapers, regardless if the student in arrears or not. So the administrators have a right, if you choose their School, to withold the results as they are the ones who taught, drafted and marked. The state does not remunerate adminstrators employed by the School, or cleaners and gardners if they were not hired by the department. The 'poorest of the poor', do not pay any fees toward their children's schooling, except uniform, if there is no recycling programme. In every township, location or rural area, it is expected that those children will attend a school within their vicinity. Where necessary, a "Malabese" feeding programme to help poor children receive nutrition is also state subsidised.

But these kinds of schools usually have governing bodies too that assist with some finances that the government doesn't cover. For example I am now a resident psychological practitioner at a primary school and my salary is paid by the governing body as the government doesn't cover that. And that school also has parents paying for school fees. In fact all the public schools ( ex model c) pay school fees. Some are cheaper and some a little pricier. I think it depends on what extra curriculum the school offers. I also think I saw someone in the comments explaining the difference between the public school sectors and what naught.

The government schools where you do pay are former Model C schools.

There’s so much more to love though. I love this country, and like all others there’s things that aren’t so great but also soooo many things that make it amazing.

Mhonqonqo:by the way, please my girl never drive with your window down or open. If they splash you windscreen with an egg, please don't wipe because if you did,it will obscure your view and prevent visibility when you stop then they Rob,rape and you,so i plead with you and be vigilant, South Africa is under siege at the moment, too many foreigners.

Question. At what point will african americans become the target of xenophobia in South africa. If the Nigerians were subjected to this why do african americans think they are exempt ? Any ideas ?

Thank you for speaking out and speaking truth. I didn't know about them growing meat in labs. That's gross! I'm planning to move to Ghana in a year. Sad to leave my family, but I'm starting to look forward to it.

It’s understandable to be sad to leave your family but your future will be so bright. Will you apply for citizenship since they are giving it the people of the African Diaspora?

I left SA in 1983 for some of the reasons you mentioned. And because of the cruel Spartheid regime.

As far as your late night food cravings are concerned, you can get kidnapped and killed venturing out at night to go to 24 hr shops. The reason why the meds are behind the counter, its for the protection of the people, the aged, the vulnerable anf the mentallt ill. South Africa is part of the Commonwealth most of its countries have the same pharmacy rules and regulations. Australia is the same. Thank you for being honest about your feelings regarding my birth country South Africa.

I’m not saying it couldn’t happen but the area I live in is extremely secure so not really my personal worry but it may be for others. Thanks for watching!

Coooompletely with you on the car seat issue OMW!!! I’m anal about seat belts nje so car seats are a must! Listen, we hate the taxis too😅had to survive on them during uni, got in accidents in them a few times, got harassed by drivers. But our govt is failing to deal with them unfortunately. Valid dislike! The dislike of our pizza 😂😂😂 I don’t have an explanation for that. I stopped eating pizza from our fast food chains a while ago but if you wanna see weird toppings on pizza, come to South Korea😳you’ll be shocked😅. Now that I’ve lived in a foreign country, I see the need for 24hr places. Very important! I just wonder how it would work with our crime issues. Some say it would help reduce it and maybe that’s true. I think not being allowed to just be on your phone (besides calls) is diabolical. I’ve never been told that but you definitely should just be allowed to be on your phone. Tjo, imagine! Yeah I also hate the bribe culture with police, but I won’t lie and say I’ve never used it to my advantage. We’re all part of the problem honestly. Sorry for my long winded comment but I enjoyed your video, your dislikes are valid and definitely need to be improved.
