Job's friends got it right at first by sitting with him in silence. We can learn something from that when friends suffer. When my husband experienced a devastating brain injury, my grief was unbearable. The only prayer I could pray at times was whispering, "Jesus." I remember thinking, if I had to comfort someone in the same condition, what would I say? I concluded there were no words. Thankfully, there were believers who came and sat with me and my husband in the hospital, and brought me meals, and loved on us by just being there. The crazy thing is, or providential thing, I was doing a study on Job when my husband was hurt, which helped me to say and trust, "Though he slay me, yet will I trust him."

These are great little videos full of encouragement. Unfortunately, KZbin has started popping up random commercials during the video about every five minutes. This really takes away from an otherwise wonderful message. As I understand it, paying a monthly fee to KZbin will suspend the commercials... Not nice. Maybe TIW could host the videos on Moody's own website instead of on KZbin.

Can I be honest I feel like God is a friend that left me hanging. I know all things are possible but sometimes the way life is seems impossible

Cosnider yourself very blessed. There's a mystery to suffering. Here's 1 Peter 4:1 . . . "Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God." Hold on and "be still". GOD always answers prayers and rescues.

Kevin, you are not alone in that feeling. Life can be very difficult. And from a human perspective, the ways of God can be mysterious. While our emotions may tell us otherwise, we know from Scripture that God has not abandoned us! In 1 Corinthians 13:12, the apostle Paul (who endured great suffering) writes: "For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." When life feels too much, turn to Scripture. Read through the Psalms which helps us cry out to God. He is with you, even when you feel like He's left you hanging! And nothing is impossible with God! (Luke 1:37)

Yes, speaking of being laid off, that happened to me late 2022. It was a shock after 16 yrs full-time at my woekplace. I was encouraged within an hour of it happening by: Isaiah 43:19 - "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." [Another job was provided in ten months]. I wouldn't have left there voluntarily, but looking back and knowing how even more toxic a place it has become (still keeping in touch with many there), I know it was Divine intervention. ❤ Christ was with me thru it all, giving me peace in my heart, mind and soul! ✝️ 🙏 📖.

I don’t know. But I do know that even through our mistakes, when we make wrong choices and resulting consequences, the Lord does work all things for good, despite our errors.

It is hard to understand, from our limited human perspective, why God allows the things He does. But we do have the promise that He is with us, and that He works things out for the good of those He loves. We also see, through the story of Job (that study begins in August), that God also works to protect us in the midst of an evil world.

Thanks! I remember from my NT Survey class, Matthew's key word is "King". I like the Heb. 13:5 reference that our Lord will not forsake/leave us in correlation with God with us ❤. We don't have to pray "Lord be with us...." as He is! 😊 As for the Chosen reference - an interesting and informative audio is on David Wheaton's website / podcast where he and his special guest talk about it. It won't let me post the name of it, but if you put his name and "Worldview" in a search engine, it will come up 😉.

Dr. Lee is so right on in asking the Spirit to examine our heart and motivation when listening to music. I love Dr. Lee's definition of music. I remember being a youth pastor and having parents drop in while I was playing DC Talk for the kids and looking at their horrified expressions. It was preaching to the kids in a language they would listen to. Now I play on a worship team trying to get a message across in church through music that might get through where the sermon doesn't. It's about discernment in hearing God's voice in how we communicate His love and grace to people. Great discussion

We get the Word for Music, from the Greek , to Muse, to think about what it means! Oh I just Love that Mr. Lee!!!!!!!! ❤️ Deeper in Christ, makes All the difference in the LIFE He Gives us! 🎶 🙌 🎶 I have suffered many evils, from many people, because they don’t Do This……… 😫 As a song writer, first song, Given to me at age 10, as I grew, writing songs through my teen years and did not know to guard myself from the worlds ways, when He Radically Saved me at age 28, literally from a force tormenting me and trying to pull me Down to Hell through my Living Room floor, that I did not know were demons at the time, Jesus afterward, took me to the book of original music He had given me and started showing me, the difference between His Kingdom and the devils kingdom. He Said, His is The Doctrine of Light and Eternal Life and Truth. Many of the songs, except a couple, did not Glorify Him and He Said they were the doctrine of darkness and death and lies that lead to the destruction of my SOUL!!! 😱 💀 😱 So, I sat there changing the songs with Jesus, from Darkness to LIGHT, that Glorifies Him, His Father and the Holy Sprit of Truth!!!I I STOPPED writing songs that glorified the ways of the VAIN FLESH and the LIES of this world! 🙌 🕊️ 🙌 Blessings and Protection in Christ from evil, be upon your ALL! 👏 🎶 ❤️🤴❤️ 🎶 👏

I think some considerations were left out of the discussion in the video. Music is a uniter, it brings people together and connects hearts . What a great evangelism tool! Imagine a nonbeliever connecting with a mature Christian who could walk alongside them and help them put the words, but also their lives in a more God-Centered context. It really is a loaded question, that does boil down to the heart.

I love the secular songs they changed the Words to in the movies Sister Act!!! 🥰 The people that get saved out of Heavy Metal, think they can change the Words and they are okay and they are Not. There are still the dark tones and screaming like DEMONS, Holy Words!!! They should be ashamed of themselves thinking that is okay. They’re rebellion doesn’t want to give it up and CHANGE from that Lifestyle of Wildness too, the Tameness of Christ. 👏 🎶 ✝️ 🎶 👏 Blessings

@@foxecarpentress4964 You are so right. The LORD called me with a song. He healed me. Moved me. And then, The Holy Spirit gave me a song. He put a new song in my mouth. A victory song, like Moses, Deborah and Barak, The Morning Stars, Jesus. I then dig deep into music and put together an 11 hour documentary for my family on music. People have no idea how deep, dangerous, and dark it goes. From altering brain waves, beats calling demons, automatic handwriting lyrics, alter egos, rituals on stage, and so much more. Beware. We beed vigilance and discernment in this hour. There are bands noted above that have all the signs of darkness. I've researched them. Just because it says "Christian", doesn't mean it is. Who are these musicians? Half say they don't even play their instruments on stage as something takes them over. What symbols are on their album covers and videos? CCM says they act just as bad as secular bands backstage, then come out uniting people in Jesus. Even if lyrics change, beats don't. They alter brain waves. Many based on voodoo.

Only two days into the devotional and I’m already excited about this study. “We are called to believe and live the words we sing in daily worship to the King. And we have a God who can enable us through the Holy Spirit to do so. May our music in worship be rooted in our daily walk with Him!” Amen, Professor Lee!
