Johnny Depp looks very comfortable to me! He’s just a good actor - and don’t forget they would’ve rehearsed it. If anything, he looks like he’s trying not to laugh. He’s a fan of British humour, you can tell. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have agreed to the gig.

Johnny Depp lives in the UK now. He has a large country estate in Somerset, England and loves living here. He enjoys going into the local towns and villages, because whilst he is recognised he says, "English people don't go crazy when they see me! They are polite and respectful although they do like to say hello and have a chat when it's appropriate".
@CaroleEvans93436Ай бұрын
I think he bought a pub in Somerset too. He also had a house near to Hastings. He lived over here when his children were at school. The family divided their time in the UK and France. He often slips into a British accent

The Fast Show was Johnny Depp’s favourite comedy show. According to both biography books I read years ago he used to take video tapes of the show around the world with him to movie shoots, and would always watch an episode or two in his trailer or hotel to wind down before sleeping. And he’s said in numerous interviews that Paul Whitehouse is one of his heroes (and one of few actors to make him feel star-struck when he met him). He even got Paul some small roles in a few of his movies.

This sketch with Johnny Depp is from a special of the show. It follows the pattern of all the previous iterations of the sketch with these two tailor's shop assistants - it's just all the funnier because it's Johnny Depp being treated this way. Johnny Depp absolutely knew what he was letting himself in for! I's funny because it's irritating - that's the point!

I get the feeling that this sketch was like a private joke between Johnny Depp and the other guys. I wonder how much of it was inspired by the real life antics of the drummer Keith Moon, together with the guy from the 'Bonzos' and various one legged actors they hired to help them take the piss out of the 'posh'' tailors around Londons 'Jermyn Street' area.

It's the same awkward feeling in comedy that Ricky Gervais leaned into with The Office, but with a tad more sophistication. BBC The Fast Show is from a good (1990's) few years ago , but may not be made today non--PC. It was a a good, popular show in the UK in its day. Plenty of BBC Fast Show vids on You Tube. The problem with Americans (as an observation, not a criticism)...is that they try to evaluate and think too deeply about humour before realising that it is just humour! Which is probably why British comedy shows never really translate well into American copies. They can't successfully do carcasm and wit, as they should be spontainious.
