I want to grow hydraulically, (passive Kratky style), in stainless steel stock pots. This requires a lid with hole to support a net cup. While I could use foam board, the goal is to avoid forever toxins, which can certainly leach from styrene based products. I was hoping to find a way to drill holes in the lids that come with pots. The method shown here seems like a starting place. Wondering what kind of tradesman would make sense to approach for hiring this out. Any ideas?
@StevenParente
@StevenParente 27 күн бұрын
I think stainless steel fabrication and metal workers (sheet metal workers) would be the first choice. Anyone operating a machine shop with drill presses would be a good choice. Or someone with their own home shop. There's also the possibility to use available punches or custom make punches. It would depend on how many you'd like to make. If this is a business venture where you would make hundreds, I would contact a metal fabrication shop. Thanks for watching!

400 grit sandpaper, denim, or leather belt push razor away from you
@StevenParente
@StevenParente Ай бұрын
I tried leather and sandpaper before, but the frame of the razor and soap strip didn't allow the blades to make good contact and when I pushed down too hard, the thin blades became bent and misaligned and wouldn't shave properly. The denim and nap of the cloth allows the blades to sink in just enough for a good stropping without bending the blades. Do you have a technique that allows for better contact and doesn't bend the blades? Thanks for watching!

I am mostly through putting mine together, and have really enjoyed the experience. A few details on my kit: the slipstick was missing (used chapstick); the holes in the pickup cavities were not pre drilled; the bridge mounting holes (4) were not pre drilled; there were 6, not 7 mounting screws for the tuning machines; the strap button holes were not pre drilled. I made my way around these issues, and am very satisfied.

Here's a few pointers that might help. 1. Use regular denim, which has a good nap on the surface. The stretchy denim doesn't work too well. 2. Make sure the surface is flat and that you don't strop over a seam. If the blades are even slightly bent, this method won't work. 3. Use light pressure and strop several times. If you strop too hard, you'll bend or misalign the blades. Thanks for watching!

those brackets with wheels you bought work pretty well.i actually tried many different methods and got it wrong .my original case had a bracket with two big wheels on the outside.the design was flawed because it was held together with a spring which easily fell off after a few trips then caused the bracket to snap as it was on a pivot.i saw this happen to many people.i then tried to replace the assembly with one with the wheels on the outside using my own wheels but found that the wheels after a few trips touched the bottom of the case and rubbed as the assembly loosened at the pivot. eventually i decided on this design and worked okay though i had to file the existing holes to line up with the screw holes on the wheels.i like the case so have persevered but have come to the conclusion that cases which have 2 wheels built internally work better because the brackets if external are getting banged around when you travel.

Thanks so much for posting this tape. Joe was my first accordion teacher in the mid 50s, and I still have my bright red Petosa from way back then that my parents scrimped and saved to buy for me. Unfortunately, I was a typical kid and lost interest by the time I was in high school. I played occasionally for my kids, but never seriously. I’m now 79 and one of my daughters twisted my arm to get the old accordion out and play a little for the grandkids. As I was playing Bella Mia I started wondering if Joe ever recorded it so I could hear how it was supposed to sound like, and lo and behold I found your KZbin post. I’ll never play it like he did, but it’s sure fun to listen to and remember the accordion band we had back at Whitaker Elementary school in Portland. Thanks again for the memories!

Part number you gave is for Roland MONO 1/4" 3 pin PCB jack, when you pulled out a Roland 4-pin STEREO 1/4 jack? Did they have same part number? I got a 3 pin one based with that part number. Bit confused.
