I’d argue that Jaghatai has human values rivaling Vulcan. Dorn forbade him from riding out, and Jaghatai looked to Sangunius and asked if by riding out he would save lives. When sanguinius said many, the scars sallied out from behind the walls. The humanity of the scars is just another overlooked aspect of their character.

What drew me to the white scars is my own interest in the story of Ghengis Khan and my own journey to learn about him. He wasn’t a monster, sure his armies killed a lot of people, like a lot a lot, but then I also found he was a loving husband, protected women and children’s rights, promoted religious freedom, was a statesman and basically tore down the system that saw him enslaved his wife raped and father murdered all while he was barely a teenager. He saw to bring unity and then he saw to conquer and the influence of the Mongolian empire cannot be understated, and it’s criminally under tought. It’s so easy to just view him and his legacy in a box like Brad said but then when you dare to open the box you learn shit is more complex. People like to say the world isn’t so black and white, are also the people to practice what they preach, sure it’s important to take a side, but remaining ignorant of peoples humanity isn’t any better. And it’s in a way helped me shape my own view of the world. Yea there is clearly good and evil, but people are complicated and who says what’s good and evil isn’t set in stone, but even the ones we think are evil are still capable of love, we’re loved and not always what some people wanted them to think. You’ll find a flicker of humanity in small ways in some of the most evil people in history and some of them are only evil cause that’s the box somone put them in.

One of the best Legions and Chapters. Sangy may be badass and pure, Angron may be tragic angry, Peterturbo may be brilliant and petulant, but the Khan is the perfect combination of smart and compassionate. The zao against the Alpha Legion, his strategy against Horus, his riding out to save the people of Terra, his duel against Mortarion. He's the most based primarch

The biggest problem the White Scars face; Severe lack of novels. Even now. No mention of the Khan nor his retinue, survivor or messenger with news of the current situation, both they and us have been left in the dark for an annoyingly long time. All the stories that you mentioned and more of the companies/legions going untold is unbelievable.

Wait wait wait i just need to get some The Hu on as background music before i listen to this one. Fulgrim: "I heard from a contact on Mars, Jaghatai, that you do strange things to your ships." Jaghatai: "i heard you do strange things to your warriors." _insert Daaaaaaamn gif here_ Nice segue from White Scars philosophy to our own lives. We could all do with a little less moaning about our situation and a little more enjoying the freedoms we have, and taking a little more responsibility for our own happiness.

Eyyy My Boys! As someone who also loves Mongolian culture, I get the White Scars. The Mongolians are only considered Barbarians because the Chinese dubbed them as such. They could not grasp that the Mongolians were happy with their simple nomadic lives. Just like the Mongols, the White Scars are noble, honorable, and quite humble... just dont draw their wrath. The most dangerous man is a peaceful man, drawn to wrath.

One of the big things people seem to forget or never mention is just how much the khan was involved in drawing up the rules for the librarian. Where magnus just wanted pyskers of the legions to have free rein, The khan knew there needed to be temperance by rules and guidelines. Most of the rules came from those used by the stormseers of chogoris. I genuinely recommend reading or listening to the jagitai primarch book and the rest of the white scars books. Warhawk of chogoris was one my first Audi books and it made me fall in love with the white scars, if your just starting 40k books I can not recommend it enough

As a Vietnamese, watching this video and having a Primarch with Mongolian heritage makes me a little happy since Jaghatai Khan has one of the most powerful abilities in this insane over-the-top universe: Basic Common Sense. He is No.3 in my Top 5 favorite Primarchs, with Vulkan being the First and Roboute Guilliman being the Second. Since the lore about the Khan and the White Scars is scarce (and I am just too busy to do complete research on Warhammer 40,000 Extended Lore), I wonder how they interact with the Salamanders, the Ultramarines, and other Loyalist legions. Given their humility, I can imagine that they would be best buddies with the Salamanders and have drinking contest with the Papa Smurf's boys due to their obsession with speed and other related matters. Lastly, may I suggest you cover the Raven Guard and their Primarch - Corvus Corax next? He and his Legion are also quite underrated, in my opinion.

You forgot the whole "looks Asian" thing... People don't realize how much time there is to think in nomadic and semi-nomadic lifestyles. And to compose and sing, especially while herding. Singing is a valuable tool for a herder, and we see it in cowboy ballads, back to the peoples of the eastern steppes, and beyond, to the likes of David and Moses. As a trucker, I do understand. I used to sing all the time. I've written short stories in my head. I consume 40k lore because it gives me brain fodder.

the White Scars are a chapter built in the idea of building something permanent from things that are often attributed with impermanence. they cannot remain anywhere for long, because duty calls, but they also know that they must respect and honor the traditions and values of those who made them what they are. so they embrace their home culture fiercely, for wherever they are called to and wherever they may roam, they carry with them all the values of their ancestors and the drive to make it out alive. to continue to pass down what they have learned to the next generation, to be a living, vibrant tapestry of the whole human existence taken to another level. because if it all ends tomorrow, who would remember them in the grand scheme of things? they who do not conform with social norms, but instead, act as a counterbalance to redefine what those social norms are in the first place. and so they ride on the edge of society in order to protect that which needs protecting, fulfilling their duty while being ignored by the wider galaxy. so they embrace their culture, because no one else seems to care enough to try to understand them. they know they will not last, not in the long run, but the memory of their deeds just might. and so might their culture.

Really great video. The Khan is the coolest primarch. He and his scars rarely get the attention they deserve. Warhawk is an incredible read. So many people get their lore information from memes. They often get shallow and incorrect impressions and they miss out on the depth of everything in the novels. The dive through the warhammer rabbit hole is endless, but you need to crack open a book to find it. Good work trying to spread the word. I prefer the heresy community over the 40k community for that reason. (AoS is the superior game though)

I think people also underestimate the fact of White Scars being the loyalist Space Marine legion that have its marines having deeper understanding of Immaterium and how Realspace have relationship with The Warp, which is pretty much the point of "Path of Heaven" novel signifies, perhaps even better path-walking and understanding than most Primarchs (both traitor and loyalist alike), even some chosen White Scars' marines can trick both chaos gods and Emperor than even Guilliman, Lion, Magnus, Lorgar and maybeee Dorn (but Dorn merely attain immunity from chaos corruptions due to sheer power of autism to make gibberish things to occupy him busy from Khorn's incessant "blood oath" bs, in The End and The Death trilogy novels), I think returning Jaghatai Khan will grant him more crazy warp powers and special knowledge about Humanity, Webways, The Warp, Chaos gods and Drukharis, if Games Workshop decides to bring him back to The 40th millennium Settings Also fun fact: most Mongol Khanates outside Central Mongolia were converted from Nestorian Christianity & Shamanism + Buddhism into Islam, then forming great empires of their own (hence you got Timurids and Mughals, Timur I Leng saved Christendom more than the actual crusaders in medieval times, simply from the fact that he destroyed so many Sultanates and Emirates, only just when he was en route to plan conquering the newly founded Ming Dynasty, he passed away, which is even more hilarious that there are so many earliest Ming Dynasty's biggest generals were also Muslim huis, which takedown then defeating the Sepahi Muslim guards of Yuan (Mongolian/Kublai China) dynasty) There are a number of names of Muslim Arab names in early Imperium (Warhammer 30K/Horus Heresy) including Malcador's true identity to be the same as Khidr in The Qur'an, alongside a number of his secret agents (too bad that all of them were neither that notable nor memorably (in)famous as John Grammaticus lol, but it's also how Warhammer 40K supposed to be alluding Dark Age of Technology to be pinnacle of humanity as "subversion", ends up being a reference to how "Islamic Golden Age" happens nearly in the same eras as Medieval "Dark Age")
