On Captain Marvel Adventures 1 is a good issue but Special Edition Comics #1 is the 1st book devoted to Captain Marvel; Pre-dates Captain Marvel Adventures #1. Thank you for your content.

I hope the "buyer's market" continues for the Heritage Silver age auction tomorrow LOL. I am at the point where I refuse to pay higher than the last sale price, or last lowest price in the last 3 years. Whatever outcome would be better for me. 😉 That PEP Comics cover was very cool and did not look like a 1.8. So funny they gave that a blue label, I have a restored book that has the exact same comment (and no other comments), and it's marked restored. It was graded a long time ago though. I wish they had a standard that was 100% the same across the board. Wow, that Police Cases was an out right super deal that buyer got! Love the first appearance of Starman! As a child, we always joked that Ted Knight became a newsman after he retired (see old episodes of the Mary Tyler Moore TV Show to get the joke). Poor Catman.. he never got the same love as Batman. Little kids were more excited and spooked by bats I guess. Enjoyed the show as always!

In 2001, Marvel banned heroes from smoking in their non-MAX comics (basically all of their main comic book series). There is an article on CBR called "When Did Marvel Ban Smoking in Their Comic Books?"

Is the hard part kevlar or tortoise shell, I know some chest protectors for security now use tortoise shell which is knife proof, to prevent stabbings. Cool case, I love it

I like that shell, it looks very professional! I can see you using it not to take slabs somewhere, but to bring those expensive keys you buy home with you! 😉

I see they renewed the who's who in 1990, don't know whether it was completed, certainly passed me by. I had an aok of that Family guy book.

Great list... Astro City issues are super undervalued right now. They are pretty cheap but can be tough to find in high grades... Alex Ross has done over 100 covers for the series, and I believe someday he's work will become more highly sort after in much the same way Planet Comics has 🤗 ps will send you some Instagram posts of other suggestions

Thanks for answering my question. I think I would agree with your assessment of the EC revival. I'm still in, for the most part because I do enjoy horror comics. I'm finding Creepshow to be the better of the two. It's best to read the new EC titles but not really think of them as EC.

Here’s another one for Dave Stevens fans - he did a spectacular cover (of an exotic dancer, acting as an artist’s model for Dave) for issue 117 of The Comics Journal, cover-dated September 1987. I’ve been paying a lot of attention to TCJ listings on eBay lately, which is how it came to my attention. I just now checked “sold” listings for it, and good-looking copies have commanded $175 to $200 the past few months. Definitely an issue to watch for if you come across a bunch of TCJ someplace.

Golly, I am the wrong person for this type of video. I don't "spec" at all. I just buy what I want and like (except maybe the Ferret). I remember buying the Who's Who issues off the rack, but only but the one's with the characters I liked in it. Love Family guy, and American Dad; but wouldn't buy the comics. Did buy Chucky 1 and 2 for my daughter though, she really loves that freaky doll, I will tell her to hang on to them. I agree with the nostalgia angle. Would not turn down a Wild Wild West comic LOL (different generation for sure). Only book I ever bought of the other of the 10 was the Wizard. And, you are correct. Never thought to treat it like a comic.

Hi Allen. I recently picked up an All Star 8 4.5 restored C 1 for about 24k. I use a very good restoration/conservation service to invest and conserve many of my books. I’m thinking I could remove the restoration and get a 3.0/3.5 universal or I could remove restoration and “conserve” the book to get a 4.5 to up to 6.0 conserved grade. Which option for this book do you think would create the most value including doing nothing short and long term?

If you could be any character hero or villain from Marvel Comics? and DC Comics who you would be and why? how would you use your Powers in today's lifestyle? makes you wonder as most of us that have read comics over the years from childhood, knowing what most of these big-name characters that have done wrong to right from right to wrong and stepping into their shoes & boots would you think you could do better or serve the same mistake as they have made, is the meaning behind everything 🤔! We've all thought these questions can't Denie that.

In opposite to this weeks question, are there any comics that are highly valuable today that you strongly feel are going to have an immense drop in value in the future? Hi Allan. Do you think the Bronze Age Horror bubble is deflating? The higher grades are in collectors hands. It appears that people aren't interested in picking up the lower grades and that the money has been already made on the higher grades and that the higher grades are correcting?
