Mc frontalot had a song called "captains of industry" about being in the "t shirt business". Came out in 2011. Pretty prophetic.

Dwane, this particular video lays bare the realities of the business side of gigging really well. Lots of wisdom in your words here. Your perseverance is very impressive! Keep giving it to us straight - in Double D diction!🤙

Thank you Brian! Getting gigs is something people learn, usually the hard way. It's something that should be included in a regular music learning curriculum.

Dwane! This video was AWESOME! thank you so much for sharing your knowledge & giving hope that musicians dont have to play gigs they dont want I'm the CEO of a company that helps musicians book live gigs where the audience wants to connect with the musician, where the audience values your gift and perspective as a true artist. It’s about monetizing on your passion & skipping the phase of booking rinse & repeat soul-crushing gigs you only play to make ends meet. Would love to connect and set up a time to meet virtually for coffee if youre up for it!

This feels like another startup for dummies course. You're already contradicting yourself in the first part mate. "Do musicians deserve to be paid: No" "If you have gone through the trouble of *blah blah blah blah*, everyone deserves to get paid for the work they do" Now unless you don't count practicing for years, repairing your gear, spending hours, weeks or months rehearsing your set as "work", then you obviously don't deserve it, but if that's the argument you're making, you don't deserve your platform. And the the same would go for your video's. How to shoot yourself in the foot. My experience: Don't worry about the money, have fun first, get an actual connection with your band and the money will come on it's own. If your initial take of forming a band is money and fame, all you're gonna get is disappointment.
@doubledsrockschool Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your completely uniformed opinion. You can continue to sit in your basement with your band and let the money take care of itself, I'll continue to work as much as I want to. You're even putting words in my mouth. I never talked about fame, only making a living at playing music. It is clear from your message that you need this advice more than you can know. Say what you want "mate", I have nothing to prove. I haven't had to work for anyone in 30 years. Remember that next time you punch your card at salt mines. Good luck.

@@doubledsrockschool You too, "KZbinr"

The difference is that I play and make music for a living. And I have been for 30 years before being a "KZbinr". You say like it's an insult. You're a funny guy. Maybe you have a future in comedy...but I doubt that. Good luck with your music.

@@doubledsrockschool All I've done is reply to your hypocritical video about musicians not deserving money, according to you, you decompose that in the first 3 minutes of the video. You then give me an angry reply because I hurt your feelings, you don't argue the actual contradiction you make, you than tell me good luck, I leave you to your "domain", yet you still want to add on to the butt-hurt you've received. You're arguing like a women. My advice: Stop giving people advice, especially when it comes to what you think other people deserve. Don't count on my replies after this one, you can have the last word to make yourself feel good about your video.
