Hello. Joe from Missouri. The laser you’re talking about in this video? Like to know the type, & cost? I’m new to this so I don’t want to go overboard on price. I buy stuff from Hobby lobby. They’re all finished wood. Just engraved it . Especially if you don’t have a lot of tools. Have a great weekend.

Laser Engraving 911 put out a video on the F1 Ultra and had a really great idea for the surfaces that were too reflective to process. He dusted them with talc powder to mask the sheen and they engraved without any issues.

Use 3m tape on the bottom of the acrylic before you cut- so it’s like a sticker to attach. They have really strong tape. Houston Acrylic sells some too! It looks great!

Right now with the sale the P2 is hard to beat it’s like $1,500 off but the bolt seems to just be so much better.
@VoeltnerWoodworking27 күн бұрын
They are both really great machines, and yes, the discounts are really good with xTool. For someone just getting into it either machine is good, and if you can get the P2 at much cheaper with the discounts I’d say it’s a good buy.

It baffles me that a laser as professionally made and sold at such price as Thunder still uses stickers to label their ports and controls like one of those K40 units. They couldn't care less about screen and pad printing those areas when manufacturing the enclosures. I know this doesnt affect its use but it reflects a lot about their attention to details.

Laser Projects lol Not sure if anyone has said this in the comments but white reflects more light than a mirror finish. On something like this, if i were to use all acrylic i would use white acrylic sheet for the back and if i had translucent white acrylic, say around 30% to 40% translucency i would use that as an added layer just behind the face pieces which would basically sandwich the edge led strips. This would both reflect the led light off both the back and the front back and forth and diffuse the pin points properly I have found in the signs I make. Great video though. and your sign turned out fantastic!

Thank you. Yes, a few have mentioned it and I’ll have to try that soon. Have had too many other projects, but looking forward to it.

Can you use the risers to engrave things that are larger than the normal size? For example a bourbon barrel lid is 21”. Could I use this machine to engrave one?
@VoeltnerWoodworkingАй бұрын
Yes, you can set it on any surface.
@ScottBGKYАй бұрын
@ So I could raise it enough to slide a 21” lid under it and still engrave it?

@ScottBGKY it’s very portable so you can set it directly in a surface without issue.

Great video, though the one thing I think you should have noted was expected life of the laser. My understanding is that a CO2 tube will need to be replaced every couple years. The RF laser has a much, much longer life span.

Thank you. I did note that in my Thunder Bolt review. Hopefully people watch. :) Yes, the life span is much better on the RF laser.

I like your videos my good man. I just bought the P2-S along with the package that includes the riser, conveyor, and rotatory. I am a commercial printing company with the equipment to print full color on acrylic and wood and other substrates. This will open up a whole new direction. I am really stoked! I also got their air filtration system. I saw you other video where you said the smells can run you out. I am looking forward to getting my hands on some cedar. I bet that smells great. I am not a wood working shop though. Again, I appreciate your videos!

I live in a town with a large Airforce base. I’m retired Army and I build/make as a hobby. I have a cnc and a laser. I was asked by a guy in the Airforce if I could do a retirement plaque for his boss. He wanted something very custom. I was able to build and engrave a very unique plaque. The day after it was presented to him I started getting calls. I now make and sell 3-5 a week with a very high rate of return. So, I agree with getting a cnc and laser. Plus it’s just cool owning a laser.
@VoeltnerWoodworking2 ай бұрын
I’ve been using my lasers way more often than CNC, but both are great. Good job on the increasing customer base. Well done!
