If you're really wanna keep adjusting those lips to change the action, then you better use steel or stainless steel for that lip material because aluminum will break after several times bending. No criticism, just for info. Great action on that bait tho, think I am gonna try to make one.
@FrettholdBaitsКүн бұрын
@rickwardenaar2639 that's a good idea. Fortunately this thing ran great right away but I would be curious to adjust the lip and bunch of times to see what it can do. Maybe I'll make another one with steel so I can play around with it

@jhosekai thank you. 2 coats before paint and only two topcoats. It's not uncommon for people to use 5+ coats but I don't really like thick epoxy.

I guess you guys are trying to keep the wire you use a secret. I've googled and googled, youtubed, and read and I can't find anything that will just say what kind of wire other than stainless. I mean , no kidding?! Stainless steel, who would have thought. I swear one day I'll start making actual tutorials just so I can help people who can only find videos pretending to be tutorials.

@FrettholdBaits8 күн бұрын
@TheClayCoKid yeah that's a good idea. Probably a lot lighter than copper pipe
@burneracc25678 күн бұрын
I figured I could use a 9mm and 10mm cases, and if 9 can fit in 10, just put a steel ball inside and push them together, tho I'd imagine 10mm is a little pricy and they can be hard to find. Also not quite sure what kind of sound steel ball would make hitting brass...

Wow, those are loud rattles. The copper pipe is an excellent idea. I have ideas for my own muskie lures to build, but I don't have the tools and can't afford to buy them. But you inspire me anyhow. Can I ask you to paint a lure in a natural whitefish/cisco/tullibee pattern, mostly white with silver pearl flash? Here in Minnesota and N.W. Ontario, these are a primary forage species. They spawn in the fall, and I think trolling one of your crankbaits would be a great way to put a giant in the net.
@thelonesomefisherman74258 күн бұрын
An idea, make a jointed version and put a second smaller rattle chamber in the tail. This would give the lure two different rattle sounds, plus the joint noise.

Beautiful looking lures, would you say where the scales came from?
@FrettholdBaits8 күн бұрын
@striperhunter-ic2wt both of the meshes i used i just googled "mesh netting" and bought a yard from different places. I've bought so many i couldnt tell you which specific retailer these were from. One of my most common meshes i use is lingerie mesh laundry bags from Walmart

@pikeahontis199614 күн бұрын
The mesh netting I've been using seems to be a bit thinner material, and doesn't allow for the shadowing effect you get when you point the brush angled toward the front or back of the bait, to do scales. Also mine is more plastic like where yours is flexible, like it may be a more cotton material. Are you using a specific mesh screen product for painting or is it just something from the local fabric store? Amazing videos by the way!
