I seriously need to see how it should be done. Thank you for taking the time and expense to make this video. I've really enjoyed it and learnt a great deal about building lures. Amazing work! Both the wood work and the paint job. Very inspiring. I admire the way you recovered the masking tape incident. I would probably wiped it clean and started all over. Most impressive in my opinion is how you got the action first time right, no prototyping. Tow point, bib, lead placement, buoyancy. A master at work!

Bandsaw is one of the best tools for bait-making. You don't need to break the bank on one either (although I love mine which cost around $1000). My advice would be to keep your eyes peeled for estate sales and be patient. EstateSales.net is a great tool for scooping up deals!

I want to drill a hole in each of my pike lures so that I could add some split shots into them to make them heavier so that I could get more casting distance with them and make them dive deeper. Do you know of an epoxy or resin that I could use to seal those holes in my fishing lures? Would that 1-hour Loctite Epoxy be a good one to use? What I want is something thick enough so that I can maneuver it and shape it into the holes that I have drilled and then smooth it with a piece of sandpaper after it has dried so, therefore, I don't want anything too runny so that it would fill the entire cavity of my lures, which would only kill the sound of the lures since my lures are hollow inside. If you could recommend a product or two to me I would greatly appreciate it!

What type or brand of clear coat or epoxy are you using on this bait or all of your baits? Also where can I get a quality torch that lights in a single click such as yours. Thank you excellent work always thought out and prepared. Thank you
@FrettholdBaits2 жыл бұрын
The topcoat I used is Amazing Clear Cast. Not only is it readily available and cheap, it's also my opinion that it's the best topcoat out there. The torch is a Bernzomatic trigger torch ($36) with map-pro gas cylinder ($13) You can find it at Home Depot.

@@FrettholdBaits I have been having issues with a “wavy” finish using amazing clear. I know you just made a whole video on the process but any specific tips for clearing? Super frustrating to put the time in and end up with a crappy, wavy finish. Apply thick, thin? Shop temp? I’m stuck at this point. Awesome videos! Nothing on this bait unfortunately but it did run amazing. So amazing I'm currently building 5 more. I did get a small fish on the 9" Cuda tho so that was nice I guess 😅
@pmm4222 жыл бұрын
Nice work and great editing, fast forward is fine. my only critique is that the eyes are way to far back to be anatomically similar to a fish... if that's what you're going for. Oh and the tan color is pronounced (See Pee Ya) 🙂
@FrettholdBaits2 жыл бұрын
This model is called the "Cuda" after barracuda and is based off of a 16" jointed barracuda I made. So the eyes are set back a little bit because the "nose" of the bait is a predatorial snout. Also, I love how eyes compliment a paint job so I go with 16mm and I like the eye set back farther because of the carved eye-socket I do, plus it leaves more material in a potential weak point of the bait. They may look a little far back if you're thinking Bait fish but theres a reason they are where they are - but I get it. As for Sepia, thank you. I feel like I've heard other people say it say-pee-ah so I must've picked that up somewhere. Now I know.
