10:28 … that’s just fabulous!! What you must realise about our Dame Joan is this … she is a woman who fought and fought hard to get where she is, this interviewer was a pretty misogynistic bugger actually, in how he was questioning her, and honestly, if you want to fluster and annoy a British lady … heaven fucking help you!! I’m a Scotsman… and we are the same … you don’t fuck with us and get away with it. I in no way admired or even respected Margaret Thatcher’s politics, views or policies … but one thing can be said of her too … you never fucked around with her and got away with it. Joan was born and raised in a different time, she is going to clash sometimes with modern views or new age style interviewing, often now where intrusive and borderline abusive techniques are used to get a reaction or push a narrative … she may clash with that … but that in no way means she is insensitive or deserves any kind of misogynistic disrespect … And the ‘are you gay?’ … that was her doing it back to him … and watch how he didn’t like it … and how flustered he got … he asked for every second of that discomfort and it was delightful to watch … as a gay man myself, I friggin loved that she did that!! Women and minorities are traditional punching bag, good on you Joan!! I said it above and I’ll say it again … if you can’t take it, don’t dish it … especially with a British national treasure of Dame Joan’s calibre … 👍🏼

Oh I get it now why she was written out after sixth season she did not renew her contract with em, to become full time mother so she became one of the characters like that, to be written out in the following season the way Amanda left as well over money

I've loved seeing Diahann Carroll's performances since first seeing her when she starred in Julia when I was eight years old. Thank you Diahann for sharing your exquisite talents, beauty, grace and intelligence with the world, and in doing so, breaking down barriers for those who followed. May you rest in peace.

Such a great man! He died one day after the 48th year anniversary of winning the Academy Award for Leading Actor for Ben Hur (1959) in 1960. I totally agree with that choice. Ben Hur was just aired on TCM 12/8/24, I DVR'ed it and have watched it three more times so far. RIP my favorite actor.

Wow, classic. God rest the dead to all three of the people in this interview. Peter Jennings was a great reporter. ABC will never have one like him again. And of course, a legendary actor Mr Heston

It's pronounce Dynasty not Dinasty. Joan was eloquent and elegant despite the sometimes prodding rude interview. Anyone who knows her body of work would never confuse her with Alexis. The fact that she was so well known for that part shows her talent as a great actress, as most Brits are. I only know her work from Dynasty, being too young to know her earlier roles, and I can see she's not anything like that. If she were, she would have bought the studio he works for and fired him! She also would have worn a business outfit.

She was highly insulting to homosexual men. Her comment is not slick. It is homophobic and it shows that she disrespects homosexual men and that she stereotypes and looks at others as less than. Did she ever have sex with a black man?

I love Joan Collins, she will always be one of the best and REAL actresses out there. I am glad she stood up for herself here and although I sp tomes enjoy looking at Cardashians for fun and fashion...there's a big difference between Dame Joan Collins and them...and this is not to put anybody down, it just is.

Nobody would’ve called Alexis a nasty bitch like this “so-called interviewer” here does if she had been a man. I always thought Blake Carrington was the real “bitch” the way he tried to control anyone around him especially his children. Alexis accepted her son Steven’s homosexuality and loved him unconditionally and regardless, now that is a real parent whereas Blake was seething and disgusted by it. Also I think this interviewer is so rude and disrespectful towards Joan, very degrading in the way he speaks to her, which is very intentional on his part, as he wants her to come off a certain way, he wants her to act like Alexis which is so idiotic as that was a character she portrayed 43 years ago. I think she handled herself gracefully and good for her for telling him off, which he more than deserved and then some.

If you think Australia's Liam Barlett was rude to Joan Collins in this interview, then you should have heard his Kiwi counterpart Paul Holmes disrespecting her in their televised chat back in the day. He was just plain nasty and here is a quote that I have always remembered from his interrogation of (now Dame) Joan about her then-recent Playboy shoot; "Are you sure it wasn't just a vain attempt to convince the world that you still had what you never had in the first place?" I tell ya wot, if I was the irrational type, my television screen would have been kicked in immediately while that dreadful man's face was still broadcasting on it. While at home my blood was boiling, Ms. Collins was (of course) cool, calm, collected and classy until the bitter end of the interview. Meanwhile, Paul Holmes hasbeen (get it?) dead for years and in 2024 Mrs. Percy Gibson is still living her best life and thriving.

Yesterday, I watched another KZbin video about Charlton Heston's last years. It made me very sad to see that Heston had become so feeble in old age and that he was suffering from Alzheimer's. It made a great impression on me and I couldn't forget it. I am in my early 80s and I have a mobility problem (plus severe osteoarthritis.) When I saw Heston - who had such a strong physique in "Ben Hur" - walking slowly just like an old man, it was very sobering to watch. I recalled Leon Trotsky's observation: "Old age is the most UNEXPECTED of all things that happen to a man."
