I grew up with this man’s great talent, notably every year as child watching the 10 Commandments, and still to this day in 2024. These were the real stars that are all but gone, but their work will always be with us.

I watched this about 5 years ago....I remember being very impressed by the way he dealt with his illness...now I am ill myself, not with dementia but what I have is incurable and I am very tired...I try to deal with this the way he did and hope to remain dignified to the end...rest in perfect peace Charlton, you were truly amazing and thank you for showing me the way....

@@abdiver12, well, you're obviously young and don't know Goldwater like you think you do. In fact, Goldwater voted for civil rights in 1957 and 1960, but is only remembered for opposing civil rights in 1964, largely because he rightly believed (and was later proven to be right), that the Civil Rights Act would not create equal rights for all men, but Title VI would be used to grant preferential treatment. Look into Goldwater (who was half Jewish, so knew about discrimination), and I think you'll learn more about what he really stood for, rather than relying on myths, and talking points from people too busy to read, do their homework and think independently.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Heston and received an autographed copy of Ben Hur a year or two before his Alzheimer's diagnosis. He recited a long passage from one of his stage parts and those of us in the room sat in awe. listening. He was a true gentleman, and I recall being shocked to see this larger than life figure stooped over a cane from arthritis as he shuffled out of the room after the interview. I stopped watching the Oscar telecast the year after he passed. I was watching the "In Memorium" portion and was disgusted that most of the audience sat on their hands, rather than applaud him when Mr. Heston's photo was displayed. Before joining the NRA, Heston was a fearless champion for equality in the early 60's and fought for civil rights. He was a good and decent man.

Every conversation, every article written is examined for what they may perceive as a slight. It never ends. It makes communicating laborious and unpleasant. People live in constant fear that what they say and do can be used to shame them into submission. The fear of losing their jobs, career, family and friends is a powerful weapon. Look at Clark Gable , James Stewart, Henry Fonda, Paul Newman, Alec Guinness, Mel Brooks, Charles Bronson, Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Rock Hudson, Walter Mathou, James Arness, etc. As the far left always does, you cherry pick one person or subject and wave it everyone 's face. As an aspiring actor in Hollywood in the early 1990’s, I was waiting at a valet after performing (singing) at Club Tatou in Beverly Hills where Mr. Charleton Heston was also waiting with an elegant older woman whom I assume was his wife Lydia. I immediately approached him and told him that my favorite film was The Ten Commandments and that he was also my favorite actor (which he was and still is). Slightly bent over in his aged posture he shook my hand with both of his hands and thanked me. As the lady and Mr. Heston drove away in a black Lincoln Town car, I literally balled my eyes out as my own car arrived crying uncontrollably as I drove home. I have tears running down my face and a lump in my throat nearly 30 years later writing this comment because that was and still is the most memorable and poignant few minutes of my nearly 60 years of living. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Charleton Heston! Earl M. Washington, American printmaker born April 9, 1962.

I met him about 15 years ago when he came to Milwaukee. I wrote him a fan letter and dropped it off at the hotel where he was staying, telling him that I would be in front of the building where he would be later that day. So mom and I waited, camera and a book he wrote in hand. A car drove up, he got out and said to me, you must be Marylyn. I was thrilled. Then he signed the book and we talked, Mom took a phone of him and I, which turned out great. He took time with me, and I will never forget him. I saw him two times after that at an NRA meeting. The last time was sad because he was suffering greatly from the disease. It was so sad I almost cried. I love the movie Will Penny, and El Cid, the famous Spanish hero. El Cid is in my family tree which I found out from Ancestry.com

Teaches us a lot about life. When I was 28 years old, a 15 year old mocked me for being "old." He laughed at me, saying I would die before him. Yes, he actually said that. 3 months later, he was shot dead walking to school. Gang-related. When I heard his name mentioned as being the one who had passed, I took a double-take. Who? What? And then I remembered our conversation. Anyway, your comment made me remember that story. That was 23 years ago.
