It's like Disney wanted to make a romantic comedy with no kids and no magic. And it mostly works. Some very funny scenes. The gangster in the basement trying to climb up the stairs comes to mind. And Slim Pickens trying to be a well-mannered waiter is another. The final act of the film with its slapstick 3 Stooges vibe is the weakest part, in my opinion, but probably included to entertain any children in the audience. I watched this recently with my wife - and we enjoyed this mostly forgotten movie.

I had Mary Poppins within my talent to draw pictures by pencil when I was 21-years-old in 2013. To be located in too much about it, I told her that I drew my Project Onward picture drawing artist studio pictures at Project Onward.

What great finds! Amazing you can get your hands on these. Auction sites? I would frame those for sure. The Mary Poppins one is so colorful and has so much feel to it. The Cinderella is incredible. The typography on all of them is so strong. Nice video.

Thank you for this! I was a child at the time of “Off To See The Wizard”, and I can only remember bits and pieces. ( Remember, there was no syndicated version - so you saw it once and then … poof! … you had to rely on memory.) I have a set of the “Ozkins” - probably a play on Disney’s “Disney-kins” - hand painted by my mom. Not having a color t.v. back then , she guessed at the color schemes. She got pretty close. As another poster noted, the Wicked Witch of the East resembles “Mombi” from the 2nd Oz book. “The Soldier”, is also known as the “Soldier with the green whiskers”, and resembles the drawings by Denslow in the first book. ( Technically, Frank Morgan played a version in the MGM film … but … not exact to the original drawings.).

Thank you for watching, Chad. Glad you enjoyed and that you have the set hand-painted by your mom. Yes, you are sure right about "the Wicked Witch of the East" and the “Soldier with the green whiskers”... I have always Frank Morgan to be playing that character. As I believe I mention in the video, the tip off is the flowers in his gun. 😃

Well, it took 11 months, but as promised, I'm back! 😳 I honestly don't remember Spin and Marty all that well, but there's a dim memory of buying some comic books under their name (Gold Key?), so this was all new information to me. I loved that recording you played as well. I think Sinatra also did a version of it (😉). Thanks once again for bringing us all this great work you do, Jim!

Bellissimo Jim! Also in Italy, after the first 1951 showing, the film was reissued only for spring 1970, with a beautiful poster by Bruno Napoli. In that occasion there was also a storyteller LP with original film dialogues and for the first time, the italian version of the big golden book, printed by Mondadori editore. After that, the film, in 1985, went to the 16mm catalogue and in VHS. We had also two super 8mm extracts. After some years, the italian 16mm section of Disney Italia was shut down and copies of films were all destroyed (or someone went secretly in the hands of some collectors). To find a surviving italian 16mm of Alice could be a real treasure! I have an original USA Technicolor print in 16mm.

When I saw the cover in a different video, I knew it was a Carl Barks tribute! Calling it the "Barks Billions" is the icing on the cake! From what I learned from a completely different video, Matt Groening himself is an avid fan of Barks' own work to the point Springfield apparently took cues from the famous Duckburg! Anyway, it was excellent you had a chance to interview such a legend! I consider him as great of a writer as someone like Mark Twain.
