What fun it was going back to 1976, especially through TV Guide! I remember all the hoopla but learned a lot from this video. I forgot about those bicentennial minutes. I'll bet that CBS programming block wouldn't work today with all the streaming and everything. I think it would be very different. Nice time capsule you created in this video.

1976 worked out to be the right year for the Bicentennial. Things were normalizing from Watergate and the inflation of 1974. '75 was the recovery year, and '76 those events were far back enough not to interfere with the celebration that year. 1977 and '78 were good years in terms of stability also. Unfortunately in '79, things got really bad again for the next 3 years.
