Hi John, This was one of my very first videos. You're absolutely right about it being an advert for my company. It shows very little of what is actually done on a service. In hindsight I could've titled it differently. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

@ lol 😂 I wasn’t being nasty I just was hoping to find out what an gas engineer did on the first service as mine is due soon, and unfortunately like a lot of trades nowadays there are a small number that do just as much as they need too. Fortunately I have found a local gas engineer lined up for mine. Have a good day

Hello What’s mean F5 error Thank you
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing 9 күн бұрын
Hi, This is what a quick google of F5 error code means: The F5 error code on a Glow-worm boiler indicates that the boiler is overheating. This fault prevents the boiler from working to prevent damage to itself. Causes low water flow, faulty thermistor, blocked heat exchanger, limescale build-up, and airway blockages. Risks damage to the boiler's internal components and risk of fires. Safety It's unsafe to operate the boiler with this fault You should use a Gas Safe registered engineer to diagnose and fix the fault How to fix A Gas Safe registered engineer can diagnose and fix the fault Regular professional maintenance can help prevent the fault I would say you’ve got some sort of blockage or flow issue causing the f5 fault …. But without seeing it myself I can’t say for sure

@julianopificius6910

It's real; it's in the UK. We have low volume dual function systems like that, which heat water like a boiler and circulate it it for heating. I've been gone from the UK for over forty years now, but when I bought my first house there, back in '81, it had a system like that. It was in my kitchen on the wall next to the kitchen sink. If I remember correctly, it used 1/4" piping (yeah, right!?) for hot water circulation. We called that "microbore", IIRC, obviously needing a pump for circulation. Our houses are smaller, and there's less room for copper piping, and certainly none for forced air circulation. A small volume of water forced around the house, driving high efficiency radiators...

The F4 fault code on a Glow-worm boiler indicates an ignition problem. This means the boiler is having trouble igniting, which can prevent it from providing hot water and central heating. Causes Faulty ignition electrode: The electrode may be worn out and need replacing Blocked burner: A blockage can prevent the boiler from igniting properly Faulty gas valve: A stuck gas valve can prevent gas from reaching the burner Low gas pressure: The boiler may not be getting enough gas Dirty spark generator: The spark generator may need cleaning or professional attention Wiring or connection problems: Loose or damaged connections can disrupt the electrical signals that tell the boiler if a flame is present Solution To fix an F4 fault, you should call a Gas Safe registered engineer. They can assess and rectify the issue, which may involve cleaning or replacing parts, checking the gas flow, or troubleshooting electrical issues. Safety The F4 fault code locks out the boiler to prevent unsafe operation, such as gas leaks or overheating. You should never try to fix a gas appliance yourself. Sorry I can't be much more help

@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing 18 күн бұрын
If it’s dripping from the center of the lever/valve its likely it’ll need replacing. The only advice I can offer is to open and close it several times to see if that helps re-seal the insides BUT this could also make the drip worse. You can always leave it for a bit to see if it self seals. Otherwise, it’ll most likely need replacing

@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing 19 күн бұрын
This should be repaired by a qualified gas safe engineer. As you should have the appropriate testing equipment and knowledge to carry out the tests. I'm not sure if you are, as I can't tell from your profile/username.

Why was readings clear from intake/test point but not ok from seal?
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing 19 күн бұрын
I put it down to the location of the seal being below the test point and with the case on the boiler, the fan was sucking the products of combustion away from the test point. But with the case off the boiler, the fan was sucking air from the room, instead of outside....this meant the products of combustion lingered around the seal.

Ty. I get an intermittent gassy smell from top of combi where the elbow flue is screwed to boiler. 3 gas safe boiler services all check out fine and pass. Could this seal be the issue and can be missed on service?
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing 19 күн бұрын
@watchman7471 I would doubt it would be the issue. As this is inside the boiler and the boiler is technically room sealed. But without testing it myself, I can't rule out any possibilities. All I can do is advise getting a qualified gas engineer in to check it out....but it sounds like you've already done this
@watchman7471
@watchman7471 19 күн бұрын
@dpjplumbing ty. Had 3 engineers do a service. All passed each time they couldn't find an issue. I'll get the elbow removed to see where it joins boiler as smell coming from there. Appreciate your replies 🙏

What are the typical symptoms of this?
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing 19 күн бұрын
Sometimes the boiler will not pick up any errors or issues during normal operation so you won't know there is a problem. But inside the boiler it could end up recycling Products of Combustion which can cause condensation to build up inside the boiler and corrode parts. It can also cause the burner to burn incorrectly, which can cause the boiler to cut out or produce dangerous amounts of Carbon Monoxide. The boiler should cut out if it starts burning incorrectly and eventually go to a fault code, that's if it is particularly bad. If it's just a slight weep then usually a build up of residue where it is weeping

Hi, I managed to turn the valve as you said however it never climbs above 1.1, and flashes between that and 0.9bar Does this indicate a fault? I read it should be at atleast 1.6 but after 10 mins it won’t go any higher
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing 22 күн бұрын
It could be that the mains water pressure isn't powerful enough to raise the pressure that high Or a common issue with this boilers is the digital pressure sensor gets clogged with debris/sludge and it stops reading the correct pressure. Without testing it myself, I can't tell you if any of these are the actual issue. But the recommended pressure from boiler manufacturers is for the pressure to be between 1bar and 1.5bar. Hope that helps.

Expansion vessel had no pressure so the expanded heating water had nowhere to go, so the pressure goes high and causes the Pressure Relief Valve to dump excess pressure....which causes the pressure to drop when the heating water cools down and contracts

Is it a common thing that this brand boiler lost pressure frequently?
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing Ай бұрын
How frequent is it? After the heating system has been on? If it's after the heating system has been used then it's likely the expansion vessel needs repressurising. If it's dropping pressure without being used...then there is a leak somewhere on the heating system or boiler.
