Are you getting a Low Water Pressure Fault Code F22? or just looking to top up the pressure on the Glow-worm Flexicom Combi boiler?
This video shows you where and how to do that. Under the boiler, you will find 2 levers. These levers quarter turn to allow water to flow into the heating system to help increase the pressure.
If you find the pressure keeps dropping regularly then you may have underlying issues with your heating system that need looking at by a Gas Safe Registered engineer. You can find your local GSR on the Gas Safe website.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or get in touch.
Thanks for watching.

Hi, I managed to turn the valve as you said however it never climbs above 1.1, and flashes between that and 0.9bar Does this indicate a fault? I read it should be at atleast 1.6 but after 10 mins it won’t go any higher
@dpjplumbing

It could be that the mains water pressure isn't powerful enough to raise the pressure that high Or a common issue with this boilers is the digital pressure sensor gets clogged with debris/sludge and it stops reading the correct pressure. Without testing it myself, I can't tell you if any of these are the actual issue. But the recommended pressure from boiler manufacturers is for the pressure to be between 1bar and 1.5bar. Hope that helps.

I've had common issues with these boilers/filling loops passing. They slowly fill the heating system causing the pressure to rise over 3 bar. If I suspect that is the case, I undo the filling loop and if it continuously drips then that is usually the cause. Only way to stop it is to replace the filling valves but they are part of the inlet valves of the boiler.

Not sure. I know on some boilers sometimes the valve will seize up and the plastic lever will just twist out of shape. I'm not sure on these type if it is the case. From memory I think they can come in plastic and metal. Try using a small screw driver to remove the plastic lever and use a spanner/grips on the brass part of the valve

I had the same problem. Basically the right valve is not turning even though you turned the silvery knob because it’s worn and slipping off. Take off the knob(a screw under it) and get a wrench to turn it to the right. The actual valve has seized overtime and not moving even when you turned the silvery knob.

Hi, I don’t know how fast you reply to comments but I have an issue with my boiler that I was hoping you might be able to help with. So yesterday it came up with the F09 code and I tried re-setting the boiler as a first step. When I reset it, it told me the pressure was 1.1 but still would keep going back to the fault code. So I tried repressurising it like you showed in the video and it increased the pressure. However, despite only opening the valve for a couple of seconds, the pressure has now gone up to 2 and keeps fluctuating between 1.9-2.3. I turned it off and left it for the rest of the day and have just come back this morning to try it out again. Now the pressure fluctuates between 1.9-2.1… I have 2 main questions. My first question is whether a pressure of 2 is too high? I searched online and it said that a pressure of 2 could cause long-term damage to the boiler - so I’m a bit concerned. My second question is, is it normal for the pressure to fluctuate like this? I assume not 😅 so if it is not normal, what would you suggest I do? Thank you so much!

Just to give another update, I turned my heating up to 17 degrees Celsius (not on the boiler itself, but on my thermostat). I left it for a few minutes to heat up and then it was showing that the pressure was 2.9… this makes me think there is a problem with the heating but I am in no ways an expert so please can you advise me! That would be very much appreciated 😁
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing Ай бұрын
Hi, It sounds like you have an issue with the boiler itself. It could be the expansion vessel or the digital pressure sensor inside the boiler. Both of those things need testing by someone qualified and knows what they're doing. Fluctuations are normal during boiler operation as the heating water heats up it expands and creates more volume and naturally the pressure will rise slightly. But the expansion vessel is designed to absorb that expansion. It's difficult to give you a straight answer without seeing/testing it myself.

Hi DPJ plumbing really helpful video, I have a question about the filling loop. Any idea if there are any specific products out there?
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing Жыл бұрын
Hi, I've found it's a common problem with these filling loops that they end up both passing and slowly causing the pressure to rise above 3bar. You then get the symptom of water dripping out the overflow pipe. I haven't found a blank that fits onto the filling loop threads myself. The local merchants don't have anything that fits and I've not got anything in my odd bits box either. I end up changing both the cold inlet and heating valve, so that my customers can easily fill the system without having to reconnect the filling loop every time it needs topping up. Apologies I can't help you any further. You will most likely be able to get a blank but it might be some trial and error. Cheers, Dan DPJ Plumbing Heating and Gas

What’s the difference between this and the flexicom 18sx model? Regarding locating the valves. Thanks for the video.
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing Жыл бұрын
I think the sx model is a system boiler, whereas this is a combi boiler. The main difference is that a system boiler heats a cylinder of hot water. A combi heats hot water up inside the boiler. So the sx wouldn't need a cold water supply or a hot water outlet. This means, usually the filling loop is located externally. Hope that helps. Cheers, Dan DPJ Plumbing Heating and Gas

@dpjplumbing

@@je6874 yes. What I meant by externally is not part of the boiler. It's usually a chrome braided hose with one or two isolation valves (this is the most common method but I've seen lots of weird and wonderful plumbing bodges) Most commonly it'll be below the boiler or where the cylinder is. But again, I've seen them put in the back of cupboards that noone even knew about. Hope that helps.

Hi, From what you are saying, it sounds like you have a leak somewhere. As long as the valves let you fill it up then there shouldn't be an issue with the valves. If you are getting pressure in the system but the digital display does not increase. It could be a faulty pressure gauge.....these are a common issue on these boilers. @@kevincurley5065 it does sound strange. There's a few things that could be happening but without seeing it in person it's hard to diagnose. If the pressure does rise when opened then I would assume it work as it should. The sound of the water flowing doesn't always happen, flow rate and water pressure can make the noise happen or not. If it's not pressurising at all, you could have a faulty valve or tap but again, I would need to see/test it to confirm. The F4 fault code on a Glow-worm boiler indicates an ignition problem. This means the boiler is having trouble igniting, which can prevent it from providing hot water and central heating. Causes Faulty ignition electrode: The electrode may be worn out and need replacing Blocked burner: A blockage can prevent the boiler from igniting properly Faulty gas valve: A stuck gas valve can prevent gas from reaching the burner Low gas pressure: The boiler may not be getting enough gas Dirty spark generator: The spark generator may need cleaning or professional attention Wiring or connection problems: Loose or damaged connections can disrupt the electrical signals that tell the boiler if a flame is present Solution To fix an F4 fault, you should call a Gas Safe registered engineer. They can assess and rectify the issue, which may involve cleaning or replacing parts, checking the gas flow, or troubleshooting electrical issues. Safety The F4 fault code locks out the boiler to prevent unsafe operation, such as gas leaks or overheating. You should never try to fix a gas appliance yourself. Sorry I can't be much more help

This was only checked last month and was fine :/
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing Жыл бұрын
Sounds like your pressure relief valve is throwing water out. If it's leaking even when system hasn't been on then I would guess that the Pressure Relief Valve has gone faulty and continuously passing. This would need replacing. But without seeing it myself, I couldn't say for sure. Just going off what you're saying. As a few things can cause the PRV to activate. I know from experience that glowworm pressure vessels tend to go faulty /spilt but the symptom for this is that the PRV would activate when the heating system is really hot and the pressure has built up (3bar+). Then when the heating system goes cold and contracts the pressure would drop to zero. Hope that helps.
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing Жыл бұрын
Sometimes if you've got a lot of air in the system, that can act as a pressure vessel. When you bleed it and remove the air it can cause pressure issues if the expansion vessel is faulty.

@@dpjplumbing thanks so much for your reply. How strange no water was being thrown out before when pressure was increasing, ill get the expansion vessel checked and inflated, maybe for the cost of a pressure relief valve it may be worth replacing! Thanks mate
@dpjplumbing
@dpjplumbing Жыл бұрын
@@jed7200 because of how the PRV works, once they release, sometimes muck and debris can get into the seal. This will stop the PRV seal sitting correctly, which allows water to pass. Sometimes when they start leaking, the only option is to replace. I know usually with glowworm and vaillant (same parts) if the expansion vessel fails and PRV activates, I always replace the PRV as it's only £20ish and I've already got the boiler drained for the expansion vessel. This is because I've done a few where I've replaced the vessel and the PRV just continues to leak, even when cleaned.
@jed7200
@jed7200 Жыл бұрын
@@dpjplumbing i think this is definitely on the money. Thanks so much! I did initially look to replace vessel but plumber who came to do it found the valve was just leaking air so he replaced the valve and repressurised. However, after 3 visits he was still unable to diagnose why my boiler was going up 0.1bar every day. I detahced filling loop, low and behold water dripping from inlet valve. I replaced water inlet valve for filling loop myself, no more dripping and valve now isolates. Makes sense as the system had a good flush that that X800 stuff as that was his second visit idea that sludge was cause of the increasing pressure! Oh well, hopefully it’s swapping out the PRV, ill order a PRV, shame you are not closer to me!!

Some Glowworm boilers use an internal digital pressure sensor to detect the system pressure. These pressure sensors suffer from getting blocked with debris and stop working. If it's stopped working because of debris/faulty sensor it will need replacing. Usually I identify this issue when I top the pressure up and the boiler does not sense it.
