At first they don’t admit that concentration camps. Later they say ohh it’s re-education camps. The last they don’t allow UN human rights team go to their do investigation freely. Thanks to the international community concerned about it so now CCP kinda slowed it down. But people they still have fear. They won’t risk life to speak out. People their can’t communicate with outside world. All the can do is live a quiet life. Putting people in jail is easy. Just say they riot and committed to crime. There won’t be any public court. People can’t have lawyers. They just disappear. You don’t even know where your neighbors are and you can’t ask. People in other provinces don’t know and they won’t care either. When living in the same country but don’t speak out for brothers and sisters one day nobody will speak out for you. Everyone is caring about money and survive and less people cares about human beings in society. Nationalism also grow fast these year. If you are Han Chinese your life is life blue pill in Matrix. You won’t know and care about anything but yourselves. You will have one and only news source from CCP. So if your people got locked and burned alive you will forget it,twice. When you hear people say leaders go first and others burnt alive you will choose to forget. One day you got lock down for something like Covid again and you’re quarantine but your pet got killed in your home by gov you still choose to forget. I’ve leant many things in history, anthropology and psychology. I know it will happen to Uyghur people anyway. Not because they practice Islamic region. The fact is in the past they worshipped nature. Then they had times of believing Shaman and Totem. Later they were Buddhism for long time. Recently they were defeated and got forced to be Muslim 90-1000 years ago. They were big part of Turk family. They share similar language and culture. They look similar in a way to each other. But Chinese government keep saying they are not Turk even they created one of the most popular Turk dictionary long time ago. World is lovely and horrific at the same time. These things are happening and also we are witnessing wars around they world. Human rights are not protected. People got massacred and all UN can say is we strongly condemn about it that’s all. They are no real actions. People in Ukraine got invaded and we only only print money send money. People pay more taxes. People in Palestine got killed nobody cared and still chose to send money to Israel. Terrorist are bad for sure but massacre entire country no matter it’s kid or old it makes no difference with terrorist. In the end Jewish people have more money and more useful to western world. So they will be protected in the end. Normal race and ethnicity are not that United and rich like Jews. So if things happened to them they will just got wiped out from history eventually. Hope world gets better and people starts to care about each other. Great video. I don’t wanna write this much but I see propaganda saying disgusting stuff. Hope they got locked up by CCP and experience it by themselves one day. Experience what is it like to be helpless and lonely. It will eventually happen if people getting cold hearted. Now in China if you see a person fell on the ground and lost consciousness nobody will help and not even help calling police or ambulance. You just die and rot there. That’s success of CCP. Letting people stopped caring about their rights, health, environment and each other. Only worship CCP. And you can only see light or a torch in your whole life living in fake dreams. One day you’ll find out it’s so fking dark when you got communist hammer hit your head. Then it’s already too late. Hope people in China also starts giving cares to each other

Honestly, bloggers, you should really be grateful to the driver of the ride. Because there is no hitchhiking culture in China, coupled with our moral and legal constraints in China, the hitchhiker is also responsible for your safety. In other words, the driver is not only not obligated to help you, but also has to take the responsibility and risk of protecting you from accidents on the journey because of helping you, and if something happens, the driver is responsible. So this driver is a very brave and kind person.

Oh, relax. I'm a westerner living in China, I can speak Chinese, etc - fact is, if you're not looking for trouble, you're fine. Yeah, naturally the police have to check on the foreigners in their country - this isn't England or America. Doesn't work like that. You either accept that or you don't go. Maybe it helps that I speak the language, which instantly seems to take some suspicion off of me, but I've never HAD issues with the police. Some check points, sure, they want to know what I'm coming to that area for, we just tell them and move on. The government here is - believe it or not - NOT out to get you. They don't CARE about you as long as you're not getting into political games you should know better than to play at. You're perfectly safe as a westerner going to Xinjiang if you're just going to have a look and not cause problems or act like journalist. They don't even care if you're filming things unless it's clearly sensitive areas like a military base - which would also put heat on you in the west, by the way. My HONEST opinion on life as a westerner here? The three biggest issues for me are 1. that I don't have good career options in my field here, 2. That I need a VPN to use the internet - that's annoying - and 3. It's hard to get some things you take for granted in the west and there's a limit on foreign goods here. If I had a solution for all three, I'd have very little to complain about here. It's not perfect from a western perspective, it has its issues, but in terms of PRACTICAL issues that impact YOU, personally? It'd be those and of course having to choose between either a work visa or a family visa (I have the latter since my wife is Chinese, so I have to leave the country every 4 months and re-enter). Just so people know - it's not as scary as youtubers make it seem.

Chinese is too friendly and polite toward foreigners. In U.S. if you dare to sneak into a locked and chained area let alone military base, you will not only be arrested and might be prosecuted depends on where you sneaked into. Many years ago a Chinese lady tourist mistakenly went into a U.S. military base near the boarder of U.S. and Canada, She immediately got arrested, prosecuted and throw into jail. This incident has been widely reported and she has been treated as a spy. Consider how western counties treated China and their citizens, you are very lucky.

Mike, wonderful video. Just one quick reminder: the stick-out-your-thumb gesture is a Western sign for hitchhiking. In China, if you stick out your thumb, you are giving us a thumbs-up. So of course you get a thumbs-up of approval right back, but usually no ride. Just wave your hand in a friendly way, and eventually someone will slow down and then stop to see if you need help. After travelling in Xinjiang all this time, you've probably figured this out by now. But in case you haven't, well...haha.
