This is FIRST drey video I've seen - I think you've found a/your niche ... take the baton (DREY livestream) and run with it ‼️

May I ask what the time span that these edits were taken from. Is it all though out one day or was it just a few hours. Just curious of the speed. I've seen now 4 drey builds/rebuilds and they are usually quite fast, going up and down continuously for a couple hours, so was wondering if this were the same. 🌿UPDATE, just realized the timestamps of original video are there so I can go look myself. Now that she's lived through a big storm, maybe she is prepping a nice little "backup rain cabin" since this is so stable and sheltered. Can't wait to see her plans.

She worked on it first on May 13, 2024 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqamcmycrddqgMU

Actually, this is Molly’s 2nd pass at it. She made a first attempt after escape #1. You have an unlisted video of it 😁. Can’t add links tho or KZbin will delete comment.

orphaned 4 weeks ago but released a month ago? must've been way longer when she lost her mother

I meant she was about 4 weeks old when she became an orphan It was on February 2, 2024 that her mom died.. Molly was about 16 weeks old when she was released.

Trak actually has videos up of the night he rescued Molly, and later bathing and feeding her. It's an amazing story.

I've seen the camera view in this tree in the past. Did another squirrel previously have a drey here, and Molly naturally gravitated to it as well, since it met her criteria for a good spot for a drey?

I noticed a mystery nest there about a month ago when I was cutting branches to put in the soft release cage for Molly, Moby and Marley. So I placed a camera above the nest. After releasing Molly she found the mystery nest and slept in it for a few nights, moving in a few small branches with leaves. Then some baby opossums used it for a few nights. Other squirrels have inspected it. There have been a couple rats too. Today Molly seemed very dedicated into making a real drey. Often squirrels will have more than one nest for emergencies. I'm not sure where Molly decided to spend the night.

@trakdv362 Thank you for the explanation, I really appreciate it! 😀 It initially boggled my mind as to how you had been lucky enough to have a camera mounted right where Molly began working on a potential drey. It must be a hot piece of real estate to have such a diverse cross-section of forest denizens routinely checking it out. Hopefully, Molly resumes work on it. She has so many people rooting for her. ❤️

It's so fun to be able to see Molly build her drey. Feels full circle, from her being in the nest box with Minnie, to getting rescued, and now back in the wild and building her own home. I just love it!

Not only do we get to watch this amazing process, but we'll get to see how other wildlife react to it. I so wonder if Opie will still use it if Molly is not in residence..

There is something soo relaxing (? not sure if that's the right word even) but just watching and listening to her working away is just the coolest. It would be a great video to have playing in a coffee shop.

I have a momma squirrel that I feed. Took 6 to 8 mos to consecrate that relationship. That was in 2020, year of lockdown, antwaze, I have gotten over the fear of Momma biting my finger off. Now her new child, he is quite squirrelly. Always fun to watch. The Mulberry tree in backyard is tilting, going to be cut down due to devastating winds /rain this last week of May. 2024 .Thanks for caring for the little rodents, made my day.

It really does seem that there is a huge variation in squirrel personalities. Every time I pet her, I am still in disbelief. And today when she was leaning into my hand while a stroked, I really was just amazed.

Our mama squirrel's little girl has begun building a drey in the tree above our deck just today and she looks about Molly's age. Now I can know what's happening from above, not just below. I always wondered if they "wove" twigs and/or how they actually build the nest. Can't wait to see more, I love to watch her trying it out and thinking about things as she builds. I wonder where she'll decide to put the doorway.

They are palling around together. They visit the cage to get treats and to drink water. From this monring kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqGoq52Fet90Y5o
