I really like your performance of this great Dylan song. Nice voice. Nice playing. Would love a more high-quality recording. Slightly louder vocals and with some high end eq boost.

Your voice should be a bit louder and the great uke down a tad. Your voice should be on top. Or better, do two tracks. Good work.

Much better isn't it. I'm after a bit of portable kit that I can plug into the sound desk anywhere so I can record all the shows in similar, if not better quality :)

Hey now! I deleted my old account on there now. Reddit can be chaotic posting on there haha. I'm sooo glad you made it over this way though man. The ukulele jam music is happening finally! I took two years locked away practicing this stuff and it's all coming through now. There's a gig I uploaded on here from Tuesday on the week at a venue called the Future Yard :) And the final song is a Neil Young cover and that thing is the performance I'm most proud of :) Thanks so much for coming to my youtube :)

This was a good tune! I love the guitar in the intro the most and throughout the song and I liked the soft and reverb sound that the song has. I’ve been teaching myself to play guitar and hearing this song gives me some ideas for new styles of playing, so thank you for the inspiration. What comes to my mind is, Wow, how does this video not have more likes on it? Who is this talented artist named Dan Wainwright? If you’re willing, I would love to hear about your journey as a creative. Your description is very interesting too. I can agree that a lot of songs have very personal messages or specific experiences that are intertwined with the music, and it makes it hard to relate to or imagine your own story that goes with it. The lyrics work because they don’t really make me think of anything specific, to me it goes like a happy song about some dude waking up in the sunny morning, living in an apartment in the city and singing about his girlfriend leaving him and now he is happy about it. Its open ended for sure, good job lol Edit: What you're playing is the Ukulele, not a guitar!!!! It sounds like an acoustic guitar in this song, good job at making it sound full and ranged
@danwainwrightmusic4 ай бұрын
Hi there. Thanks so much for the lovely comment, and yes you're right it is the ukulele. Haha I love your interpretation! Though I didn't leave my girlfriend haha, she'd just gone up and gone to work! The song is full of just really simple things like that I sort of stated their existence and didn't elaborate on them at all. I have anxiety around singing as I wasn't a singer just two years ago, my belly is getting bigger with age (When I woke up this morning, I didn't think I could see down to my knees) and the "in a pod like peas line" is because I have a picture of my and my girlfriend in a hammock together next to my bed. We look at the picture and say "two peas in a pod" when we see it, but I just flipped the words around, to in a pod like peas. I've been a musician all my life really and played all sorts of instruments. I wanted to know everything about music since I was a young child and wanted to be on the radio as I learned my uncle is Stuart Sutcliffe the original bass player of The Beatles, which fascinated me, and it still does in many ways. I've been a drummer in a band, a guitar player in a stoner rock band called Groan, a bass player in a a few psychedelic rock bands and I've produced plenty of albums of my own and for other people too. I was making acid house music and electronic music for many many years and did that as a living but I experienced a bit of a mental breakdown I guess during an evening I was DJing. I always found the experience uncomfortable but I reached my limit where I couldn't handle the discomfort any more. I learned that I'm autistic, and in that I needed to live my life differently and to the needs I do have, rather than pushing myself into discomfort. I needed to find something my heart wanted to do and do that regardless of and fear of fitting in and just getting by, which I believe I was doing that. And so in quitting my electronic career I'd been listening to a lot of country, bluegrass and folk music which was more calming to my soul and my nervous system and just more beautiful to me musically. I also loved playing the ukulele and I happened to pick it up one day and I improvised loads of my songs I'd written over the years and realised I could see a direction to go in. So I shut myself away from the world for two years and practiced the ukulele for hours on end every day to be able to play it whilst improvising so I could play with all my emotions and all the while learning to sing... and just hoping I could make myself and just the ukulele sound full and complete just by themselves, so I could create music where I wasn't hiding behind production techniques or technology with my DJ decks. But it was me completely, upfront. No hiding places. With all my emotions. So the songs follow a structure, but they change every time as I do improvise so I can lead with all of my heart every single time I play so I can immerse myself in a deep joy of music. I think that explains who I am and how I got here to playing ukulele the way I do 🥰🥰🥰
