To much fried food. Looks good for once in a while

I only ate a few times in 7 years at these type of food places, reason being everything seems to be fried, fried or fried. Even found a foreign owned diner in Mactan which had a great choice of Western dishes but again everything fried apart from burgers made on a griddle/hot plate but they seemed to pour half a pint of oil across the burger & bun before serving it up. At the second meal, your wife said "chicken like McDonalds" lol, not the greatest of recommendations. If only food was up to the fairly decent quality I ate in Thailand & Singapore I could have stayed in the PI, but my belly said "Dilit"

Getting a bank account with the ACR is hit or miss. One branch of BDO would not give me an account. I didn’t try again since I thought that was the end of it but I have seen on other blogs that ACR was enough for others so I think it depends upon who you’re talking to and not policy. I was also rejected by one branch of BPI even with my SRRV, she wanted a notarized lease contract of where I was renting. I walked down the street and opened an account with metro bank without that hassle.

When opening an account, the post office will send you a temporary password to setup your account. A few tweeks from a guy that has been here full time for 8+ years. When you use WU or Xoom don't send ₱. Only send $ and convert here. You only lose 0.5₱ on the rate. Wise has done GCash transfers for quite a while. Opening a bank account on a tourist visa can be problematic. First off it is against the Central Bank rules. My account was almost closed during an audit but fortunately I had just gotten permanent residency. There are other crackdowns happening as well. LTO will not issue licenses to tourists or renew the license of a 9a holder. The 36 month extension limit on a tourist visa is coming under scrutiny. Interviews at each extension and a report to HQ if the expat has been here over a year on 9a. What would happen to your motorcycle, car, apt lease, girlfriend, kids, etc if BI decides not to renew your 9a and you only have 2 weeks to get out? If you come here as a tourist, be a tourist. If you want to live here, get a permanent resident visa.
