It's really misleading to blame labor costs at 4:54 when Chipotle posted $356M net revenue in 2020 and a $1.2B net revenue in 2023 -- corporate greed is the real issue here.

Partly greed. You had the great resignation right after the pandemic (remember the "no one wants to work anymore" bit by employers on social media), where low wage workers saw the greatest increase to their salaries during that time period, so it isn't a wild stretch of the imagination that companies would have to pay more to have employees, which doesn't include minimum wage increases.

They should have replaced chicken with a plant based equivalent. That would have been an environmental win. Growing more chicken is only going to cause more problems. For the chicken, but also for the humans that eat it. Particularly plant based meat with chicken flavor tastes almost the same and is cheaper to produce. But if you don't care about animal welfare you will care about the next endemic or pandemic caused by antibiotics resistant viruses. ... Wages are higher in Europe and they still have lower prices
@goinginzane2 ай бұрын
You are being misleading. There places in Europe have higher minimum hourly wages than the US, and some may have lower avg prices, but I can't imagine there are very many places where those are both simultaneously true. Look at any list of countries ranked by avg daily pay, median annual salary, GDP per capita, etc the only European countries that appear higher than the US on those lists are places like Switzerland, Norway, or Luxembourg and I can GUARANTEE you that the avg cost of a fast food burger is much higher in those places than in the US. There's certainly arguments to be made about many European countriss having higher standards of living than the US thanks to good public transit, affordable public healthcare, and adequate labor laws, but when to hard economic numbers like avg prices and median incomes you're gonna have a real hard time arguing against the US.

Wages in USA are way higher than in most of Europe, while fast food prices are way lower. Usually americans have a way bigger purchasing power, while having way worse quality of living. Beef is just too expensive, economically and ecologically... The amount of water and land used to feed cows is destroying America from every angle, less rain, rivers never reaching the ocean, water tables dropping beneath their well depths, and massive swathes of land cleared for cattlefeed and grazing. I suspect that fish will replace chicken someday, as fish can be farmed vertically the same as chickens, and the raw materials consumed and produced can be used more efficiently. Also, I don't think its right, but humans feel less guilty about eating creatures that don't have easily recognizable emotions, hence, chickens are easier than cows, and fish is easier than chickens, though ironically bacteria are so unrecognizable as a living protein source that we still find it gross unless its used to make cheese, and then we pretend it isn't a block of bacteria poop. Ahh, but nobody feel's bad for the cries of the carrots... Life feeds on life, feeds on life, feeds on life (Disgustipated by TOOL)
