Basically a lovely fairy tale about a clean, kind-hearted doctor, kind inspector, unthinkable in our days. Puppies and rainbows at the pink house in black and white. Thank you for the upload.

On a hunting vacation in remote upstate New York, criminologist Robert Ordway (Warner Baxter) gets caught up in what appears at first to be a typhoid outbreak. The disease causes a culture clash between the town's only doctor, folk-remedy-espousing Sam Millerson (Griff Barnett), and modern county health officer Dr. Wickersham (Addison Richards). But, when Ordway looks into the illness of barber Ward Beechy (Trevor Bardette), he begins to suspect that the sick man may have been poisoned. Release date: May 29, 1947

There's an evident, almost alarming laissez faire attitude in the police force and the munching Fat man....but I liked that comment at 8 17..."Will you join me Miss adams?".............." well...I begin to see why they call you the Fat Man..."

Ok, maybe that tooth extraction hurt a lot, but totalling the dentist is not the answer!

The actor who made the most total income from Hollywood in the 1930's decade was Warner Baxter. Thats because he was a star when the decade began and also when it ended. Just a phenomenon of odd timing. Others (even the biggest stars) were either unknown in early 1930's or had declined/died by 1940, or just didn't negotiate good contracts.

The phrenologist at 12:28, later played the first victim in Steve McQueen's, "The Blob". Also, the taller, dumb crook played the stupid cop on the 'Boston Blackie' series.

Yeah, I know this is hollywood, but these early movies mirrored their times. Here in 2024, I mourn the loss of who we were.

It's like Joe Pesci stole his character for Die Hard 2 from this movie. Or rather, it was stolen for him? They're too similar not to have a connection. I swear.

This doctor should have checked the patients blood sugar level before giving insulin as “passing out” usually is caused by low levels.

@4:02, the cop declines to take the newspaper saying, "We have pictures of it". Even back then there was a principle of law known as "best evidence", which held greater weight than a mere photograph.

I was a kid in the 70’s as well This movie was on tv the night when I was a kid, and reminds me of when I was a little boy. I walked in on my parents having sex when I was 11. At the time I didn’t know I was jut a kid. mommy was on her hands and knees pretending she was a horsey and daddy was riding her from behind pretending he was a jockey . But what I didn’t get was, why they were naked? So at Sunday school the following Sunday I told Mother Maria my Sunday school teacher the game mommy and daddy were playing and I asked why they had no clothes on? She had no idea either!🤔

Every time I watch one of these Baxter films, I remember Michael Caine & Ben Kingsley, who having shed himself of the incompetent "Sherlock", tried to take his place as "The Crime Doctor". "Without a Clue" (1988) was one of the funniest films I ever saw.
