I have a bad habit for cussing, sometimes I think I have tourette's syndrome. I don't like it, it's a kind of a release. It is nice not hearing sexual innuendos, cussing....what we have in movies now, seem to be demonic.😢 I really enjoy the older movies.

Great film noir! This movie seemed to have spawned some others: Nero Wolf, The Killing, and at least one other crazy clown movie I saw. Really high production value: everything from Fat Man's dance to the camera shots focused on the pants and shoes of a man walking with his shadow into and through the lobby of a building. 👍👍

Just saw the credits. Jayne Meadows played the dentist's assistant. Jayne Meadows was born in Wuhan China of all places. She married Steve Allen and had one child. Her sister was Audrey Meadows who was famous for The Honeymooners.

Thatis the 5th Avenue Motor Coach double decker bus in the back. Washington Square Park was the last stop of the M5 bus route. The company went out of business in 1962 when I was a little boy in NYC. 😊

It very much reminded me of the Cannon TV series. I love seeing Old Los Angeles. Interesting seeing Jane Meadows in a part where she says so little, as she was very talkative in real life. Castle was awesome. Tons of character actors. Someone said the story was 'very tight' and that describes it to a T. Thanks for posting it.

The Fat man radio program was one of my favorite radio programs growing up in the 1940's along with Intersanctum, The Mysterious Traveller, Suspense, Sherlock Holmes, The Shadow, Nick Carter, Gangbusters, This is the FBI and Mr. District Attorney. That was my entertainment during the War Years until my parents bought a TV in 1950.

LOVE OLD MOVIES. So original, no foul language, good actors, good writing, just something nice for a change. Nero Wolfe never left his home except for extreme reasons. He used Archie for his leg work. The books & movies were good.

I assume you are a Woman, I find it strange that you didn't find "The Fatman" calling Jane Meadows "Sweetheart" all the time, even though he knew her name, just a little demeaning and illmannered for a Woman he had just met? They treated women with very little respect in those days and it shows in this movie....but they didn't say "bum" and that is what you took from it? You are much better off living today than back then.......but nostalgic memories can play tricks on us

Opening scene made me smile. Intruder touches everything, then uses material to put bottle on table and to wrap victim up. So still left fingerprints everywhere. Great narrative throughout. Enjoyable film. Classics always the best. Thank you. Oh, the actor who played Pinky (Marvin Kaplan), I recognised his voice from my 1970s childhood. He voiced the cat Choo Choo in animation Topcat from 1961 onwards. 30 episodes in all. Nice to place a face to a voice over.

The way he enjoys his meal is real fun . The " Fat Man " story is a great story . " Here is something a little extra for carrying me when you didn't know if you'd collect ." Good way of putting it . - " Did you get me a car ." , - " A honey , boss ." You should have seen the car , horrible . Her dancing with Rock Hudson , she looked gorgeous and that is putting it mildly . What a doll ! Jack Smart dancing , i wish i could be half as good . Fat man , but light on his feet .

This was a freakin' good movie! Rock Hudson! Audrey Meadows! Julie London! I recognized John Russell from his old tv western, Lawman"!! Plot was very entertaining like those on my favorite tv murder mystery shows: Perry Mason, Murder She Wrote, Matlock & Diagnosis: Murder. The characters in this film reminded me of Nero Wolfe & Archie more so than the old Nero Wolfe movie here on youtube with Edward Arnold.

Oh! You should check out the radio show - which uses this same actor. sadly only 10 episodes survived and roughly 6 are good quality but well worth it. Just make sure you get the American ones. Australia picked this up in the 50's and had their own Fat Man radio show. Along the same lines as the American one but the mysteries did suffer a bit.

Apparently, nobody here is aware that the radio Fat Man is a sort of swipe from Dashiell Hammett's Continental Op. When The Thin Man hit on radio, they wanted Hammett to do a Fat Man to go with the Thin Man, so Hammett sold them a format , and off they went. He lost an on-air credit due to being blacklisted; them's the breaks ... On radio, Brad Runyon didn't have a funny sidekick; Universal decided to give him Clinton Sundberg, who was sort of the Charles Nelson Reilly of his era. The plan was to do a series of Fat Man movies, but the timing was wrong; it happens ...
