Hi 2bricks, First off, kudos on the incredible models you’ve churned out for Star Wars' most iconic vehicles. Seriously, it’s impressive. But let’s talk about revisiting some4 year old designs. You've got a bunch of different designs but have yet to really get your “feet wet” with *Phantom Menace* designs (atleast with your new build style). If you're willing, we could make things interesting. Have you ever noticed how relative micro-scale and nano-scale designs are? How would one really tackle either of those smaller scales and differentiate from the confusion? Why don’t we establish a consistent scaling metric? Here’s my solution. Let's start with the largest scale, minifigure/(scaled for the approximate size of the average human imagine vehicles fit to house the average LEGO Clone Trooper). Micro-scale is half of minifigure scale and nano-scale is 1/3rd of micro-scale. ### Comparison: **Micro-scale Venator:** - **Length:** 7ft - **Design Basis:** willbricksproductions - **Detail Level:** Insanely high, because micro-scale lets you go nuts with the intricacies. **Nano-scale Droid Control Ship:** - **Dimensions:** 3ft by 3ft by 1ft - **Design Basis:** BrickVault - **Detail Level:** Impressive for nano, but come on, it’s nano. You’re limited. 1. **Consistency Matters:** Your fans (yes, us) love the builds. However, if you included proper scaling for the larger vehicles at least in micro-scale, you would find everything to be more consistent, detailed, and frankly, it sets your designs apart. The Droid Landing Craft deserves the same love. It’s a significant vehicle in the Star Wars universe, not a footnote. 2. **Detail Overload:** Micro-scale allows for the detail we crave. The CIS Droid Landing Craft has so many unique features that get lost in nano-scale. You guys are masters at accuracy-why not show off those skills on the Droid Landing Craft? 3. **Fan Demand:** We, the loyal fans, are asking for it. Well, maybe "demanding" is a better word. You’ve set a high standard, and now you need to meet it. The Droid Landing Craft in micro-scale isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s essential to complete the collection. 4. **Resource Comparison:** - **Nano-scale Droid Control Ship:** This beast is 3ft by 3ft by 1ft, requiring a significant amount of resources to achieve the level of detail you’re known for. - **Micro-scale Droid Landing Craft:** Estimated to be less resource-intensive. Given the overall part counts and design intricacy, a micro-scale Droid Landing Craft can be more manageable while still delivering high detail. ### Calculations: To determine the length of the CIS Landing Craft if it were made in the same scale as a 7-foot-long LEGO Venator, we need to compare the lengths of the actual ships and scale accordingly. 1. **Length of Venator:** Approximately 1,137 meters (3,730 feet) 2. **Length of CIS Landing Craft:** Approximately 370 meters (1,214 feet) 3. **Length of LEGO Venator:** 7 feet First, we find the scale of the LEGO Venator: \[ \text{Scale of LEGO Venator} = \frac{7 \text{ feet}}{3,730 \text{ feet}} \] Next, we apply this scale to the CIS Landing Craft: \[ \text{LEGO CIS Landing Craft length} = \text{Scale of LEGO Venator} \times 1,214 \text{ feet} \] Let's calculate this step-by-step. 1. **Scale of LEGO Venator:** \[ \text{Scale} = \frac{7}{3730} \approx 0.001877 \] 2. **Length of LEGO CIS Landing Craft:** \[ \text{LEGO length} = 0.001877 \times 1,214 \approx 2.28 \text{ feet} \] So, the LEGO CIS Landing Craft would be approximately 2.28 feet long. 5. **Canon Accuracy and Functionality:** - **Micro-scale Advantage:** With a micro-scale Droid Landing Craft, you can fully load it with its canon-accurate war material complement, including AATs and MTTs. This kind of detail and accuracy is exactly what fans crave. - **Nano-scale Compromise:** BrickVault's nano-scale Droid Control Ship, while impressive, doesn’t allow for fully detailed interiors with all canon elements due to space constraints. ### New Enhancements: I’m curious when you will design a landing ship that pairs with the Separatist ground forces (micro scale). If you based it off of the designs shown in the old Star Wars schematics books, that would certainly be golden. Here are a few additional requests to make this project even more exciting: 1. **Scale Increase**: Increasing the scale by 1.5 times. This enlargement would allow for even greater detail and create a more impressive overall presence. 2. **Working Aircraft Carrier-Style Elevator**: Integrating a functional aircraft carrier-style elevator to add a dynamic and interactive element to the model. This feature would enhance the realism and provide additional playability. 3. **Removable Covers for Internal Sections**: Including removable covers on some of the internal sections to allow for detailed viewing of the ship's internals. This approach is inspired by the cutaway images found in the “Star Wars Complete Vehicles New Edition” where it shows the internals of the ship by providing cutaway images. Most of the old schematic images of the Landing Craft are hard to articulate, but the website “starwarslatinamerica.com” has a readable image of the schematics page.

Thanks! They might very well have been inspired by the idea of building a brick built droideka, but having built the official one it’s very different, so there’s absolutely no hard feelings from me :) plus I’m pretty sure any designer talented enough to work at the Lego group doesn’t need my help to build a droideka

It’s looking incredible. It truly blows the official set out of the water. I think LEGO should have made the set in a larger scale, it’s just too small. The gray on the LEGO set also makes it look not so great. I’m glad that you went with white. It looks so much better.

Very cool, love the screen accuracy, love the attention to detail and avoiding the canopy gap. Only hesitation is that when you factor in the cost of the parts list and instructions and the cost of the parts and brick link shipping or inability to get the exact parts at Lego pick a brick, often it cost more and takes so much more work to facilitate.
@2bricks4 күн бұрын
It’s one of the unfortunate aspects of custom building- the difficulty and cost of sourcing parts. Still hoping that pick-a-brick will eventually get much much better for this so you can order whole mocs from there without an issue. Alas.

Even though I am several years late as I just recently discovered your channel, wanted to say thanks a lot for showing your to-scale micro fleet collection! I've been following your Rebrickable instructions to follow suit in re-creating a fleet for my own display, but am having a lot of trouble figuring out how Pre Vizsla's ship is constructed. Would it be at all possible to post a parts list or instructions for Pre Vizsla's ship? Thanks for reading and keep up the great work, looking forward to your next micro fleet video!
@2bricks4 күн бұрын
Thanks so much!! I really must get on fleet instructions, I know! people keep asking for that but larger projects have kept me busy. I will try and make time for the micro fleet and try to get Pre Vizsla’s done sooner than later! Thanks for the comment :)

You're the only designer who gets me excited to build MOCs of ships I have no real interest in. I can't tell you how impressive a feat that is. Your enthusiasm and ingenuity are that infectious! I hope you'll understand that calling you a "mad genius" is the highest compliment I can offer. More power to ya!

I’m curious when you will design a landing ship that pairs with the Seperatist ground forces (micro scale). If you based it off of the designs shown in the old star wars schematics books that would certainly be golden. You’d probably need transparent pillars that are common on many cis landing ship lego designs would be required to prevent drooping . But since you already have a set micro scale design, you’ll likely have an advantage compared to others who attempted to build a landing ship for the cis in the lego medium. Regardless I think there are a few things to cover 1. I’m pretty sure the clone wars tv series landing ship is scaled differently compared to the phantom menace version. 2. Pick your version, do you want to go with phantom menace scaling or clone wars because if it’s clone wars you might not be-able to deploy MTT’s. (Most of the old schematic images of the landing craft are hard to articulate, but the website “starwarslatinamerica.com” has a readable image of the schematics page.

wow that table mechanism is so awesome! I didn't build the original set and left it for pieces, but this is tempting... however I might not get the pieces as I'm collecting for your OG uss Falcon at the moment and not much grey is left :D also I didn't like the show at all so I plan to build my own "expanded universe" starfighter for Ahsoka which I store in my imagination for quite some time...

@14:15 Those engine cowlings are called nozzles. Since this model ship only contains one set, those would just be primary engine nozzles. They are very common on military aircraft.

Wow, amazing progress. Not sure if you need an idea from the peanut gallery, but if so, that little aft landing gear your thinking of omitting. I think you could get it so that when the bottom ridge collapses for landing, that it protrudes out as the ridge compresses and then recesses when the ridge lowers to fill that inflight detail?

Crazy how incredibly obvious the color differences within the dark red are. It works for Star Wars, because it creates a used look, but that is a serious quality issue. In my hometown we have a big ugly wannabe Times Square building that is panelled up in dark red glass and it has this exact same issue.

WOW! This is a beautiful design, you've packed in all the details of the interior and exterior, but kept it under 5000 parts. I love this size of ship, it's just the right compromise between the too-big minifigure scale version that I saw somewhere, and the too-small versions of the Ghost produced by Lego. Probably too late for this suggestion, but maybe the empty spaces could be filled with fuel tanks? That would take up minimal parts and add only a small amount of weight, but it would make those spaces visually interesting and give them a purpose. If you didn't include a head (bathroom), some small amount of this space could be used for that purpose. Even minifigures need somewhere to, um, go.

I'm absolutely astonished with the efficiency of your build techniques. My eye caught that dorsal superstructure at the beginning of the video and I got all excited but said "nah, that's like a 5 stud gap tops, it's far too tight to have those doors open" but of course they do! 🤣 I'm so in love with the design of this model. My favourite detail for some reason though is that ridge in the wing assembly where the outer angle of wedge plates begin, just that short block of tiles headed by the 1x2 white slope piece sat directly next to the depressed seam of grey elements. It's a detail that is really authentic to the model.
