Hi Paul, enjoyed your video, very educational. Question for you, i would like to incorporate a small circuit breaker into circuit, where on your circuit diagram would I put it? ( please bear in mind I’m not a electrician)…. Many thanks again…. Cheers Brian ( Kent - UK)

The cables connecting to the battery should be shorter and much thicker.

Does it also charge the battery to the full capacity like 4.20V?

Mine shows 0.4v without having a battery and with the battery it shows less v than what the battery has. The resistors got very hot too.

Testing capacity of SLA or Lead Acid batteries recommends discharging at 1/20 C - one twentieth of battery capacity for 20 hours. Higher makes capacity appear less while less makes capacity appear greater. Since Lead Acid batteries cannot be discharged below 50% in general, this test could only be run for 10 hours and should finish with open circuit voltage of battery at 12.2 approx, or 50% SOC.

I am looking for a source/seller/distributor/manufacturer for a Form D Make Before Break 120VAC Relay... 120VAC to control the coil and 120VAC for the load... At least 3 amps... Anyone know where to get one? If not, EHobby Guy, please do a video on how to build one from regular Form C relays. I have two DPDT type C. Thank you.

Great video! OK saying that you used the 18650 and did the test and get 700 mah , but the said 18650 didn't have any information written on it, how can you tell the overall mah of the battery? Is it a 1500, 2200 mah battery?

Nice, accidentally i found nice explanation video about that kind of switch :D but i have a problem with mine. it works great when i plug it solo or with 12v pc fan, but as soon as i connect my 12v on-demand water pump to it i clicks and turns off my solar controllers output for a moment. pump needs 5a fuse, im using 7.5a between switch and controllers positive. pump works fine when connected directly to 12v 20ah battery. any ideas why it behaves like that?
@ehobbyguy89802 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure. I would have to see a sketch of how it is wired. Does the pump have its own independent power supply? It’s possible the current it too much for the on board relay

@@ehobbyguy8980 it's something like this puu.sh/Jofhe/d0a715a46c.png wires are connected with wago connector, i tried to switch to 5A fuse, tried to use it on COM- pump + line, didn't work.

I used to do big cell tests in data centres. we were using a big heater on wheels with a big rheostat and were expected to adjust the amps we saw on our clamp meter by use of the rheostat as it fell due to the dropping cell volts. Some engineers didn’t bother, as this is the way of the world, so test data from one engineer to another were different. Is this something small battery testing should be employing ? I was told the reason was that the telecoms equipment that uses 48v in data centres was all ways going to pull the same amps but I never believe this theory as if the battery string has a finite capacity the volts and therefore amps were going to drop accordingly as time passed.

i have the clone variant model HW-586. are the resistors can handle that much heat or does it require fans for heat dissipation? i don't have the temperature tester which was supposed to be included in the package but i only recieve the battery tester. what a bummer! also, can we use this to a larger pack? i have a 4s 10p i wanted to test

Hey Paul, can you enlighten as to what a wet circuit is. You explained that you can jump the common lead with the input positive DC supply voltage and I’m curious what happens with the other leads, nc and no on the other side? I believe that this is input /output being the same DC12-30VDC but clarification would be greatly appreciated. Bless you and your efforts and merry Christmas

Hello Paul. I would like to show how much this tutorial is appreciated but words are not enough. I have gone through 2 units before finding this video. I purchased the third meter and when i got home, I found that there was only 3 wires!! It was bad enough trying to hook up the 5 wire now I need to find instructions for a 3 wire type. iI found this video and your explanation of the configuration was a lightbulb moment for me!!! I wired it up to my adjustable part of my supply and eureka!! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!! You did not muddy the waters with alot of technical facts and made it very simple to understand for the person that is at just a medium level of experience. thank you

I'm wondering if the battery protection circuits on the TP4056 had any contribution to the lower results. Also, I think you should have done an additional test with the ZB2L3 using a 1 amp load instead of just the 0.5 A from the single 7.5 ohm resister.

Why do you have a ground symbol connected to the drains of the mosfets and buzzer on your schematic? That shouldn't be there.

Well, why not use an extension cable, so that you plug/unplug from the other end of the extension cable whilst the extension cable is permanently attached to the tester?
