Fascinating - thanks! I look forward to your next trips on the benchmark - cheers!

Backing down to your garage, for a car with eight cameras shouldn't be any more difficult that driving forward. The computer doesn't get used to turning the way humans do, which causes us to have to think harder when we're backing because we're now turning with the wheels essentially at the back of the car. A computer would make the adjustment without any difficulty.

If you've intervened using the steering wheel, accelerator, or the stalk, the incident is automatically recorded. No need to push the camera icon as well. Only time you use the camera icon is if the vehicle makes a mistake and you don't intervene (i.e. turns right rather than going straight as you intended).

I have noticed that going into and out of residential areas, the car may not have the correct speed limit until it "sees" a speed limit sign. I.e. I can turn from a residential street onto a 40 MPH road and FSD Beta thinks the speed limit is 25 MPH until it encounters a speed limit sign. Not good. Residential streets around me are not always posted. Is that the maps fault (Google) or Tesla's fault? I also have a place where I turn from a 35 MPH road onto a 45 MPH road and FSD Beta thinks the speed limit is 25 MPH until I get to the first 45 MPH sign which is quite a ways past the intersection.

Exactly the same thing here in Vancouver. I believe it’s most frequently incomplete map information that has not been uploaded and the car therefore won’t aware of it until it sees a sign. It shows how far we have to go before roads are both accurately mapped AND effectively marked and sign posted.

How much longer to be perfect ? Your guess ?

Two years is my best estimate based on current progress and items still unsolved.

I know of 2 people who have put a "Student Driver" sign on the back of their Tesla for FSD driving.

LOL. Now THAT’s wise advice. I’m tired of getting condescending looks as people pass me :)

I counted 11 other Tesla’s on your drive. BTW, when you click to report something, it sends the last 10 seconds of your drive to Tesla. Also, if you’re using the stalk to take Red Dragon out of FSD, it’s not necessary. Just turn the wheel or put on the brakes.
@Resist42 жыл бұрын
I'm sure he knows that but it's easier for him to use the stalk.

@@Resist4 Whatever works, using FSD Beta is nerve racking enough. 😬
@model3man2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I’m aware of those methods. The upward press on the stalk just seems less forceful than wrenching the steering wheel or tapping on the brakes. Remember we’re all gentle Canadians here LOL
@KPD_TPOS2 жыл бұрын
@@model3man True, I use the stalk a lot to disengage TACC and luckily FSD Beta works well enough I don’t have to disengage very often.

R U an engineer? Bad weather in Canada? Say that's not true.

Yeah! Just kidding. Weather’s ALWAYS lovely here in Vancouver. No one complains about it :)

FSD updates have been few and far between, in fact FSD vehicles have gotten way less updates than non FSD vehicles, which means we get other improvements way later now which sucks. Just a reminder that when on the highway you are in Autopilot, not the FSD beta. And Tesla removed rolling stops from the beta, it was illegal to have rolling stops in the first place no matter how common it is. And the beta didn't learn with those humps, because the software isn't learning on the fly yet. FSD beta makes me too nervous driving with a lot of traffic because it messes up too often and can be scary. And it's supposed to be way better than it was over a year ago when Elon said it was amazing. He lied. lol. Yet there are other companies with actual self driving taxi's and no safety drivers doing great, all because they use more sensors which is what Tesla needs. Elon needs to let go of vision only FSD because only the front cameras can clean the windshield to see clearly. But on cold days the side cameras fog up and turn the beta off, and heavy rain or snow will be an issue. More sensors to see through this is a good thing, we need FLIR.
