Hi thank you for the video! I just got the game yesterday and was looking for a video to guide my early skill building period in the game. I want to make sure I start by learning good driving habits. I will definitely work on going manual and using the clutch. Seems like it has a good deal of advantages! Two questions for you: 1. When do you typically break going into curves and how do you decide when to break going in to curves? 2. What are your thoughts on first person view? I have seen some folks on reddit argue that their times improve while racing when using the first person cockpit view. Thanks for the video and thanks in advance for helping me with those two questions!

I put on manual just cause it seemed cool, and only after several hours of practice did I think that it might have some perks

Why avoid cornering while braking? I thought it was the go to method because it puts more weight on steering wheels thus better cornering.
@slayerofmidgets32017 ай бұрын
Turning while braking gives the tire two directions to work in, forwards because you're braking and sideways because you're turning, the limits of the tires become a issue too quickly. Test it by going through a corner close to the limit of grip and brake, the car will go wider

Couple questions. Are you using Manual to shift or automatic? Do you shift down before turns without braking. What are your difficulty settings? is it half abs, no traction control, and half stability?

one biggest problem I see is, none of those mere fraction of seconds of advantage will matter, when you get shoved into a wall or pit maneuvered right off the start (trust me, it definitely happens in online lobby, even in so called "clean racing" servers
@SYN7H3T1C48 ай бұрын
watch the entire video and still can't process allat due to peanut brain (like me) OR just divebomb every single corner, as long as there is a car in front of you, divebomb it. pit maneuver the car in front of you whenever you can unless there is no car in front of you, don't brake in corners. the car in front is the brake. congrats, you learned the basics, you will be getting kicked out of online lobby every time XD

What I'm doing wrong. PLAYING AGAINST BOTS OFFLINE !!! Under these conditions Wreckfest in NOT A RACING GAME. It may not even be a game, as skill is hardly involved !!! Any suggestion on how to compete agains Bots ?
@slayerofmidgets320111 ай бұрын
Simple line choice ai uses full assists so you can corner a lot faster than them and brake a little later, don't forget the fundamentals, going into a corner, outside, inside for the apex, outside as you exit. Brake then turn for the inside, get your position right and accelerate to the widest point you can or the best place to set you up for the next corner, sometimes a corner might be easier if you unsettle the car less too. ai really struggle there.
@weldonyoung101310 ай бұрын
@@slayerofmidgets3201 doesn't work. Not possible to get from the back row or middle of the pack most of the time to use tried and true racing skills. Bots just ram me. I challenge you to do some KZbin videos on Tournament racing.
@slayerofmidgets320110 ай бұрын
I tried the tournament twice and won both times using half off full and 4553 tuning, the ai uses full assists so it has a lot more grip and it is significantly slower in the corners using hardly any of the track, you have to powerslide early to make the corners, I used 3rd and 4th the most, shifting up if i need to tighten down, beware of flat corners, with no camber like t2 because its harder to tighten down on them, avoid contact in the opponents direction of travel because you always bounce off, pushing them into it usually makes them oversteer and slow down, look for exiting speed on corners
@weldonyoung101310 ай бұрын
@@slayerofmidgets3201 damn, you already have the analysis for the video. Did you know no one has done a good video on Wreckfest Tournament racing? But I bet you might have to give a few goes at some events.

This was a superb series, thank you so much for the time you spent bringing us this indepth comparison. I tend to ignore big American muscle cars mostly due to them only having 4 gears (for someone that refuses to drive automatics it seems on the underwhelming side). But after watching your explanation as to how the majority of these have a long powerband I'm now going to take a closer look at these and see if I can find a favourite. I concur that in some tracks 6 gears just doesn't work and I see myself losing time, especially with the Raiden RS.

Wanted to thank you for posting this comparison as this has helped me greatly. Having two PCs with WF installed, one with a racing wheel the other with an Xbox joystick, I tend to use manual with the racing wheel (it has a handy gear selector beside the wheel) and when playing on the other PC with the controller I had been using it in auto, mostly for simplicity sake and also due it being a bit awkward using the buttons to switch gears. I know that in real life manual is not only faster and more economical, it’s also 1000x more fun, which is why all of our vehicles have a clutch. I was never competitive when using auto and hardly played online due to always being last. FYI I use the PC with the controller mostly as WF seems to be more suitable than with a racing wheel. However you have opened my eyes to the importance of not only using manual with the controller, but also using the clutch. To see if what you claim holds water I embarked on some extensive testing. I tried around 8 vehicles on the long oval track and followed the same line as best as possible, for a few laps. Tried this with the xbox controller in auto, manual, manual with clutch. And sure enough there is a clear penalty one pays for using auto. Not only does it go well into the red line before switching gears, the gear change is slow. My hours long testing showed that manual was definitely faster than auto. And manual with clutch was by far the fastest option. This is multiplied on snow, where you may want to switch to a higher gear earlier, in order to better control the car. Seeing how it's December and the Tournament is taking place in snow, I have far better car control (just as in real life when driving on snow). So for anyone reading this and wondering if it’s worth it to switch to manual with clutch, IT IS. That is, unless you don’t mind staying in the dust of others in online play. And as Slayer says, once you get used to it, it becomes natural - just like with a real vehicle. I made the switch last week and now I wouldn’t dream of driving in auto again. Still trying to get used to hand braking as it gets cramped with the controller, but working on it. I really enjoy your videos and they are a goldmine of great info. For anyone wanting to get faster in WF, I can’t recommend Slayer’s tutorials enough. Again, big thanks for your contribution to the community.

Finally, a place that nicely explains the ins and outs of using stability control - with great examples too. This feature always eluded me which is why I usually keep it "safe" at half/half/half. But since I do prefer FWD cars, your tip on turning off stab control makes a LOT of sense on these cars. Can't ask for a better tutor than someone with 12 million exp points! Edit: please don't add annoying background music to your videos, these are about as annoying as meeting a bus coming the wrong way when you're leading a race with a lap to go.

i mapped clutch to "X" and shift up to "O" and shift down to "square" i can press both clutch and up or down at the same time with my thumb. Do you think this method is on par with your analog clutch setup? or should i focus on learning the stick shifting to improve?
