i see this video afther a year of you posting it so this might be bit late but to find the water bottles you talked about at 17:35 you simply have to kill enemys by jumping on them. they were mant to refill youre water if you really completly out of water thats why you get them by killing enemys by jumping.

It's interesting that you mentioned the breakable ice to get to the star in the ice maze. When I was a kid a friend of mine had a game where Mario's hat was blown by the snowman right to that spot, and landed beneath the star. It was impossible to recover because when you dropped down the hole Mario would get the star but not pick up the hat. He had to restart the game. If they hadn't removed that breakable cover that wouldn't have happened.

30:30 i like to think that the crows are representations of Mario and Luigi, for example, look at their eyes,, the on in the foreground has reddish pink eyes probably to signify Mario’s colors, his eyes also look very angry which is likely a reflection of how Mario feels being stuck in a painting, and then there’s the bird further from the view, it has a greenish yellow eye hue which I’m inclined to see it as a representation of luigi, not only the color but the expression, the crow looks scarred and very concerned which is very indicative of how luigi is throughout the entire game.
