One note about the first SCP 001, sheaf of papers. In universe, they don't actually know if they are creating a new SCP somewhere or if it is simply predicting one they need to find. That's one of the reasons they're so hesitant to flip the papers. Another note, on proposal 0-5 13. Chosing a random picture is not just funny, but fitting. 0-13 is just some random, regular person they plucked off the streets. No anomalies, no strangeness, just a guy. The point is that he helps keep the council grounded to reality, so to speak. Its not that he survived the Caesar incident because he's powerful, he survived because he wasn't there. He was deliberately left out of the blast that took out the rest of the council
@TYsdrawkcaB8 күн бұрын
for some reason my memory of O5-13 is sort of a combination of it and the consensus, where it was initially believed that all of the survivors were anomalous. but the councillors were of the belief that only O5-13 was anomalous. as it turns out, that's because O5-13 is the only one who *_wasn't_* anomalous. yet because all the others were, they saw HIM as the odd one out, because, amongst them, he was.

scp-001 the prototype has always been my favorite proposal but a lot of people dont understand it and brush it off as being "too basic". the prototype tells the story of dr gears discovering scp back when it was still a 4chan creepypasta. he was originally terrified, locking the sculpture away into the depths of his mind, but eventually the curiosity got to him and he decided to learn more just like the foundation did in this proposal. the prototype tells the story of a random one off creepypasta blooming into the largest collaborative writing project the world has ever seen from the perspective of someone who was there from the very beginning, essentially using the scp universe as a metaphor for itself.

Not sure whether there's anything really suspicious about O5-13. The proposal goes on to explain that the Cesar Incident was caused by the previous O5-1 eliminating the entire O5 council apart from O5-13, with the reasoning that literally all of them had lost sight of the foundations goals and were too concerned with their own selfish goals and political intrigue to do their jobs any more. The only reason O5-13 survived was because he wasn't supposed to die, owing to the fact that he's literally just some random guy they picked off the street to give the rest of the council perspective on things (which obviously didn't work as planned). The proposal itself is just the new O5-1 acting extremely paranoid about O5-13 for surviving the Cesar Incident and not knowing about who O5-13 really is.

Not entirely sure why but S.D. Locke's Proposal is probably the only scp I've seen that really freaks me out. Something about the idea of the sun just flipping a switch and melting 99.9% of humanity into those creatures near instantaneously is one of the most disturbing apocalypse concepts I've ever come across. The rest of the story is very well written as well, but just imagining all the people going about their normal lives before this event occurs, with no warning, time to react, means of escape or discernable reason is just creepy as hell.

Great video. One thing you missed, though, is that the Dr Wondertainment story you summarized is only the first part of the Wondertainment proposal. At the bottom of each segment is a link to the next, which eventually concludes in segment 6. Each individual segment is a different variation of Dr Wondertainment, from Cornelius to Isabel to the corporation. We quickly learn that the one writing the entry is Wondertainment itself (himself? Themself? Herself? All of the above and none of the above!), culminating in Wondertainment reflecting about its inconsistent identity, before concluding that what brings it joy is the thrill of seeing just how it will appear next. To me, this entry uses Wondertainment as a reflection for the central philosophy of the SCP project: “there is no canon.” Wondertainment can be anything you want it to be, or it can be nothing at all. In the end, all that matters is the thrill of experiencing a new story, the mystery of just what aspects of the lore will be utilized, and how these things can be used to create something special

Great video! One thing you may have missed out on when talking about Mann's Proposal is Document 001-O5. It is a document with the purpose of informing a new O5 member in case of the death of a previous member. The document talks about how Aaron Siegel discovered the gravel path in the late 1800s, and began studying it. Siegel began studying the anomalous properties of the path, and derived a set of equations used for the understanding of anomalies. What makes the spiral path interesting is that it is also the *source* of the anomalies. Siegel used the equations he derived to create anomalies. He recruited people (including the author) to start the foundation. I won't go over the entire document as it is very interesting, but hopefully this helped some people understand Mann's proposal more!

I've always thought The Sheaf of Papers is the perfect type of SCP to be Number 1 since my introduction to the idea of 001 a few years ago. I think a lot of proposals are almost over-zealous and are similar to other very popular SCP's that have become a staple of the franchise for years, but this idea of a threat that is only a threat because of humanities curiosity of the unknown and the unbelievable power this inanimate object has, is a really cool way of making something, seemingly non-threatening, immensely threatening despite its very straightforward concept.

Personally, i dont like SCP 001s that propose an explanation for all other anomalies, to me anomalous things vary so much in their weirdness their orgin and their purpose. some are malevolent some are good some are indifferent, some are cosmic in proportion, some come from different universes, some are mudane objects that by pure chance are magic or just some guy who happens to have powers, some things become that way, some are made that way on purpose ect. But there isnt anything linking all of them together and it makes the weirdness 1) more believable and 2) more interesting in my opinion I do like ones that give an origin for the foundation tho, and the ones that are kind of mundane in the scheme of things which implies it's just the first one they officially documented for one reason or another

I dont think you really did justice for the good boy. (Which happens to be my favourite scp.) Very briefly: the K9's job is to contain scps, anything that helps it in doing this it seems to class as a good boy. Eventually, it seems to decide the best way to contain scps is to neutralise them, neutralised scps are also good boys. Due to to going rogue and being very efficient at taking down scps and taking over the 05 council, it is classed as an scp by the remaining foundation. Eventually it neutralises all scps except itself, with it only becoming scp-001 due to it removing all other scps. Once all of the other scps are gone, it has itsself shut sown and reclassified as "explained", finally becoming a good boy. (And therefore completing its original objective of containing scps, "job well done" after all, this whole time it was just following its orders.)

Mamjul and Korar, along with Amoni-ram are part of the Red Tape cannon. They explore a history of the Church of The Broken God, The Daevite Empire (or Covenant in this case) and finally the Sarkic cult whose in most cannon has been a splinter group from the Daevite, having rebelled against them. These groups are closely connected in most cases so that's why they're 3 different proposal, 1 for each group. Oh and the Noosphere is the collective consciousness of human beings, basically a place where all human thoughts exist (even things like the idea of gods) and it can be really wacky sometimes (see the Admonition cannon where they for some reason f*ck around with it a lot, to disastrous consequences). On an unrelated note, you should check out the sequel to "The One Who Got Away": SCP-8000. It's a good, heartwarming read.

This file is designed to not be in 001 slot on purpose so that the true identity of the "architect of the universe" cant be discovered easily (which is why it is an unofficial scp 001 in the first place). This scp tell us about how an foundation space ship travel beyond the speed of light and reach outside the observable universe. from there they start to see universal "flaws" such as stars made out of jelly, space itself can talk to human, planet made out of flesh,...etc. The file later reveals that all those thing happen because of the "the architect of the universe and its infinite hordes of flaws". this thing is so important that to hide it, they decided to not calling it scp 001, and instead call it scp 184, make a bunch of scp 001 to fool people into thinking thats the real 001.

SCP-001 The Database (s andrew swann's proposal) is by far my favorite SCP I have ever heard of, bar none. It's meta, it's fun, it explores the ramifications of a universe existing through a real life website, and it explains the SCP foundation and all its self-contradictions by making the real life website and its inherit nature that is the source of all these contradictions a canon element. It's (in my opinion) a genius proposal and excellent writing.

I don't see it in the comments, so I'll say it here. :0) If you read the article's comment section on the website, it is revealed that Fishhook is the author's attempt to explain what happens when an in-universe person sees the cognitohazardous pattern identified as the Berryman-Langford Memetic Kill Agent that is used as security for the page of 001 proposals. The author Pedantique thus contends that when you, in universe, look at the funny squiggly fractal pattern, it is encoded to attack your mind, and so you instantly trigger a cascade of imaginary time and related hallucinations generated by your brain as you look at the picture. The image is a memetic virus trigger acting like a metaphorical "hook", which you as the "fish" have "bitten" just by looking at the image. Subsequently, you either are unable to escape and die with your mind/soul psychically ripped completely away from your body... Or you barely escape with a bloody nose indicative of a brain bleed, and do your duty as a Foundation employee to report the accidental breach you have inadvertently caused.

Yeah, cognitohazards, interdimensional quantum paradoxes and apocalyptic prophecies are cool, but it makes so much more sense that the Foundation started off as a passion project of a bunch of nerds who soon realized anomalies aren't all fun and games. It's such a nothing entry among all of those other ones, but I think that's exactly what it needs to be. A non-hostile, non-harmful, weird occurence that anyone could discover, think "huh, that's weird" and spread the legend around town.

You missed out on the best part of the broken god 001, the heart, the core of the machine, wasnt, originally, an scp. The church ordered it from the factory The oranoros scp is all about cycles. An actual oranoros is a snake eating its own tail. The first chapters of the proposal are examples of cycles, where the foundation over steps and then gets burned, before needing to clean the mess up, just to eventually do it again. As for the part with the chaos insurgency, the agent becomes the new 05-1, starting the cycle anew The good boy proposal directly said that all spcs were neutralized. The 05 themselves said so.

it hurts me that you kept writing oranoros instead of ouroboros anyway, this is true. the more detailed explanation is that the heart of mekhane wasn't her heart, but a corrupted machine. this is what caused mekhane to destroy things, instead of what she's supposed to, which is create, and why the things that are created by the broken god directly act to destroy her, because the other parts know they don't go with the core. a proposal for the real identity of the core is scp-5001, "sacrosanct". a strange facility that seemed to be a prison for something, that when testing caused many near catastrophes ended up being left alone by the foundation. it is actually, in the article, the heart of mekhane, and it contains yaldabaoth. it is beyond thaumiel, interfering with it nearly broke the universe. it deserves to be archon.

Okay, my theory: I think that the paper desings scps, and somehow transfers the desing to the factory, which then makes scps and somehow they are transported through space and time and reality from there. All the "001's" are the scps not made by the factory, they came into existence themself. A bunch of groups discovered these anomalies and eventually came together to form the foundation.
@diogod2347Ай бұрын
I think this is the best explanation for a "Composite" 001. You just need to discard some proposals like the Database and it'd be perfect.

For the Frontispiece, Thilo Zwist is still currently alive iirc and the reason the "vulnerability" in the Frontispiece exists is bc he made it so that the Foundation could never get too complacent and always had to be on their toes.

I think I'm starting to agree with the comments about the way you tackled a lot of these. For a videos as long as this you really missed a lot of crucial details! I was very confused after listening to your explanation of Past and Future, because it's one of my favourites and you kinda didn't mention anything about the planet of the hands at all or what the beings actually are. I'm not sure who's coming to a video like this for "spoiler free" content so I'm just left really confused why it was all left out

One added note about the Prototype. The name isn't referring to the SCP itself. It's referring to its document. In fact, the document itself is different from any other SCP document, with the idea that this SCP-001 was the first to be contained and documented, and every little tid bit the Foundation uses for their files comes from interactions with this creature. For example, Keter Class comes from the death of Dr. Keter, who came up with a way to contain it.

by the way, SCP-UBU doesn’t kill people. what it does (because god forbid giving it some sort of humanity) is that it causes an augmented Omega-K class end of death scenario which also regenerates wounds. UBU makes 3030’s O5-11 have a whole arc revolving around revenge and insanity and it’s fucking beautiful

(Btw before I begin I’m only at 2:17:20 rn so if this idea is already done please spare me) This has been giving me inspiration to make my own proposal for SCP-001, which is similar to Tindalos Trinity entry, with the SCP in question being the founder of the SCP foundation, but rather than the founder becoming anomalous after founding the SCP foundation, it was always anomalous, being a tall and slightly bulky, grey humanoid, similar to the Person in the gif attached to the 1.18 update announcement for People Playground, as in with milky white eyes, and no mouth, but has no organs, being more like the SCP-3008 employees, just being flesh all the way through, and being sort of telepathic, as in when it speaks, each person listening to it will perceive 001’s voice as one they find the most comforting, even in recordings the same effect happens, so if you found your own voice soothing, you’d hear it speak in your voice, and is friendly and kind, and enjoys listening to others’ interests and their thoughts. Anyways, back to how it founded the SCP foundation. Basically, it just sort of.. materialized one day, not really sure of how it came to be, or what it was, yet it had a lot of understanding of the world around it, like knowing it was on earth, but wanted to learn more about the world around it, and what it was, and after finding some explorers in its forest, they became friends, and they all shared the same interest in finding out what it was, and founded the SCP foundation, with the O5 being the original explorers, and soon they began finding more anomalous objects, and it sort of spiraled out from there, with the original O5 dying and being replaced, over and over again, but with 001 still remaining, watching the foundation grow exponentially. So now it just sort of lives in the first Site, on the isle right outside of Scotland where it first began to exist, enjoying its life.

I will always love the amoni ram storyline but fishhook is my favorite non-conventional one. Just a fun little game. I've read all of these except the most recent ones but they are all written very well. The black moon is also an amazing one considering how far spreading that it is in the whole scp universe.
