Yea i thought i was keeping my kayak adventure simple. Just a paddle, kayak and a pole i said. Now i have a fully decked out bass fishing machine complete with a pedal controled trolling motor, side imaging, down scan, 2d sonar and mapping. Anchor wizard, deck lights, nav lights, spot lights. Thats not even including the copious amout of rods, reels, and lures i have aquired. Im sure im missing more stuff. Im not gloating about what i have and i feel very fortunate to have such a setup. This is just my warning to others, be careful because you can get sucked into the worm hole, lol. It took me a few years to build my setup and aquire what i have. Just dont think you NEED everything to get started right away. Start small and go slow you will aquire what you NEED in time.

Can the point of having 10+ rods explained to me. I can get having different rods based on whether you're going for smaller panfish or bigger bass but I don't understand guys having so many rods when you can only throw 1 at a time anyways

@freeamerican620 not everywhere is 1 place. Meaning different places have different regulations. Winter I may have 2 lines in the water. Summer I'm allowed 1 line with 2 hooks. Yes a treble counts as 1 hook

A lot of military surplus shops sell some really high quality first aid kits, often coming in convenient zipper canvas pouches. Containing everything from scissors and tourniquets, to basic bandages. I also like to keep anti-venom with me since i often like to take advantage of shore casting positions i come across and we only have one species of venomous snake where im from so i only need one dose of one type.

Sir I watched a Greg Blanchard video of him fishing in the morning on one lake and then going to another lake to fish. At the dock station they did a thorough walkthrough checked into his hatch and notice just a little water and grind at the bottom and they would not allow him to launch his boat disappointed, but he understood he is such a high class of character and shows us everything. I mentioned this to have a dry pad in your boat also just for that kind of thing to happen. I didn’t remember if you already mention it already or not, so I mentioned it.

Thank you for this! I am pretty much a newbie and will be buying my first kayak in the spring. Looks like it will also be the PDL 120! One question I have for you is: do your recommendations change in any way for salt water? I will be doing mostly inshore/onshore. I do know that corrosion is something I'll have to take into account, but just wondering if you have any thoughts on salt vs. fresh water? Oh yeah, one more: I see a lot of stuff about how the rudder on the PDL is too flexible, especially in current, which is where I'll be. I agree with taking the boat out as is a few times just to get used to how it handles, but just wondering about your thoughts on the rudder on this boat. Thanks again!
@BeardedDadFishing9 күн бұрын
@@livenhfree welcome and congrats! For salt water, wash your drive after every trip and get some marine lubricant spray to spray under the prop occasionally. As far as the rudder, look up the aluminum rudder from Navarre Kayak Fishing. Probably one of the best out and a great price.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS! Rod floats aren’t sexy, but thanks to your recommendation I use them and it saved me from losing 3 rods this month when my kayak flipped. (My wife would have lost her mind if $750 went to the bottom of the lake.) Also love how you stress wearing a PFD. It keeps you above water while you get your wits about you, or like you said, if you are compromised and can’t swim at your normal strength.

A PFD and a little extra flotation in the kayak are my must have safety items. And if I were to go out on ant Salt water I'd want an emergency radio/beacon. I bough a 10 foot recreational sit inside kayak and the first thing I did with it was to shove a couple pool noodles in the thing.

Thanks for some great-informative videos! I'm planning to get into kayak fishing once construction is done on our house and I've learned a lot of do's and don't from you. Subscribed today. A tip for you... on zip ties, after 'zipping' them, grab the tag end close to the buckle and twist the tag end off. You won't need to sand anything because there won't be any sharp corners/edges on the zip tie. (I hope that makes sense!🫤) With Kind Regards, Dom
