"PROTECTED" classes? whose protecting me when i get profiled by police? whose protecting me when im constantly being discriminated, whose protecting me when in my own hood im more likely to experience violence? I know what ur trying to say but fam stop and listen to what your words mean and apply them to the point your trying to make and you will hear how messed up that sounds like. For someone whose visually part of the oppressive demographic to make a statement about the oppressed community and refer to them as protected comes off as offensive disingenuous and belittling. Be better....stay up

The discrepancy on google is that there is a Near North neighborhood within the Near North community (like how there's Longfellow neighborhood inside the Longfellow community)

I have been watching your videos for a while now & you make me love MN each time. I am in Georgia & ready to move to MN but I have been having a hard time convincing my mother in law. Any pros I can hit her with to convince her not to let the winters scare her & the benefits for seniors to move to this state.

Minnesota is the hottest club and winter is our bouncer. Your question has a lot of nuance, so you should do your own research using the information only you know about yourself and your MIL

Nerd note. Armatage elementary is no longer a magnet school after they redistricted MPS during covid. It's now the standard elem neighborhood school. And, believe you own the Ineos and I chatted with you at Armatage parking lot a few weeks ago.

I just visited with my wife. Did some digging around. From what I've gathered in the short stays I've been around coming from a Texan 1neqrly nobody's car is wrecked. The time I was their I've seen <5 damaged cars on the road. Yall can have a lot of people on the roads but can still keep up with the speed even in "traffic hour". May be different in the city. People here actually use the left lane for passing. Stoplights are synced. The Texas brain here was stopping on green because by the time you get to the next light, it's already red. 2 amazing food shout out to Matt's bar n grille, scratch pizzeria, and off the rails. 3 I liked looking around bloomington it does look like a older area and still keept up. Eagen seams like all the shopping is in one area and the housing is built around it. Apple valley is more spread out and more townhouse feel. Most houses don't have fences so if you want a dog you may want to look at the house your wanting to get.

Minnesota has been by far the best state i have living in, and without beign bias we all know how liberal minnesota is, however the people are incredibly amazing and theres always a place for you weather you are liberal or conservative, the midwest values hold true to its people, if your comming from a denser city like l.a s.f ny, chicago. Dallas, altlanta etc... dont expect much, me do have ecer increasing crime, the leisure landscape is just not there, and the weather is brutal, so if your priority is raising a family in a great environment, culture, and job opportunities, Minnesota can be an amazing place
@maegpye
@maegpye 5 күн бұрын
Can you elaborate on 'leisure landscape'? I'm not sure I'm familiar with the term but one of the things we love about the Twin Cities and Minnesota is the availability of being in nature. We have the North Shore, Sax-Zim Bog, Mississippi Headwaters, the Driftless Area, and prairie land. There is abundant water in a variety of habitats (creek, river, marsh, lake, bog). We are in a bird migratory flyway. And we have a plethora of public access to all this under multiple types of governance. But perhaps you're talking about something different with that term of leisure landscape.
@Pochitoo
@Pochitoo 4 күн бұрын
@maegpye minnesota just doesn't attract or host the best events as far as plays, concerts, tourism, airport traffic, compared to cities like Chicago, NY, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Miami, 90% of the time you fly into a layover trip, your lucky if even your favorite artist or comedian comes to minnesota, there's not much that attracts people from out of state.

I vacationed with my family here in October for two weeks, and couldn't get over how well organized, clean, beautiful, and diverse it was along with all the cool shops, restaurants, bars, and architecture. It's a bit pricey, and cold in the winter (I live in Missouri, and have a small farm on 10 acres), but otherwise I'm in love with it! We hung out in St Paul, and Minneapolis.

Are new builds pretty exclusively in the mid-to-high price points, or has there been any push in builds under $350k? As a despondent FTHB hopeful, I've never even considered new builds because I assume they are out of my price range, but the stubbornness of sellers' and flippers' price points even with 7% interest rates has me wondering if builders smell blood in the water and an opportunity to earn a bigger share of the starter home market.

Holy snap! That bridge at 0:56 is near where I live! Down the street on the other side of the river. :D 10:00 Orno Lake, oh I haven't been there in so many years, like over 10 years! Wonderful to see it like this. So much had changed since I last went there. 16:43 Oh snap, Marcus Theater was still open. It's been closed down and being renovated right now into something else. Super sad about that. My dad, who is a sign maker and has his own business now, actually created the Marcus and Cinema 17 signs! :D Thank you for this video. While I wish Elk River would've stayed smaller like it was during my youth and teenage years, I still love it here (though technically I live in Otsego, our mail has Elk River on it lol).

Something i would point out in relation to distance and driving times is that the Twin Cities is a very suburban metro so not everyone works in downtown Minneapolis or st Paul, many jobs are located in the suburbs so people commute from one suburb to another which can lead to driving across the metro. When i worked at the st Paul US Bank office a girl was hired in my department and she told me she got a job at the st Paul office cause it was closer to her home in Oakdale in the east metro, before she had worked in the Hopkins west metro office, so she was driving from the east to west metro everyday.
