Hey Josh! Could you cover AF for video? I just switched from Sony to Canon and I feel like my tracking always shifts even though I have locked on enabled.

Nice review there! Just a question, I have a sony a7iv camera with 1 prime lens and mainly use it for travelling. I do consider WANDRD as it has side access which could be convenient for pulling your camera quickly while travelling. However, I dont carry any other lenses and feel that the WANDRD camera cube would be an overkill for just carrying one camera. But I also conscious that ablecarry might not have the same level of protection as WANDRD when it comes to camera gear. Would you recommend this bag or wandrd 21L? Thanks
@joshrexford11 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! So, for just one camera and one lens, you definitely don't NEED a dedicated camera bag. If it were me, I'd look at investing in a small camera cube (Peak Design makes some great ones) and then adding that into a bag like the Able Carry. That way you have the option to protect your gear when you want to bring it with you, but also don't need to buy a dedicated camera backpack.

How are the macro capabilities as compared to sony 90mm macro?
@joshrexford12 күн бұрын
I haven't used the 90mm macro so I can't speak specifically to that...but it's a solid macro lens. It definitely won't give you the 1:1 ratio that the 90mm will, but at 200mm it still delivers a great, close-focused image and the versatility of having that option in a more traditional telephoto zoom is super nice.
@CinematoPhoto12 күн бұрын
@joshrexford I am also considering getting a 2x telecomverter with it so that I don't have to carry a 200-400 type lens and with teleconverter 1:1 macro seems possible

The only things I’ll say is that for the audio you could definitely still leave it on if you are using external audio and you are going to sync in post then to make your life easier I would just keep it on. Also the crop is 1.6times which I the standard for canon cameras. Also if you’re computer can handle it shooting in RAW is great if you have intermittent lighting or you are on the fly and don’t think you’ll have time to adapt to the lighting at hand, RAW can save you especially if you have your iso set to the base of clog 3 which is 800.

Just rented this lens and it’s amazing. I love the way it renders images. I mostly do sports or other type events where I don’t always have the luxury of desired space. This might just be the lens to have for any event shooters where that zoom flexibility is key

Dear Josh, thank you for your videos, always very well made and very, very useful. I’m a photographer who still uses film, and I have always used Canon. I’m thinking about switching to mirrorless, and I have a question for you. I hope I’m not overstretching your patience. Is the R3 suitable for landscape photography? I mainly print photography books and A1 prints sometimes, and I’d like to avoid the R5 because of its shape; the R3 is very similar to the bodies I’m used to. Thank you for your response. I wish you all the best in your work and in life.

Hello! Me again hahahah now I switched to Sony, and wanted to know, do you need to have both the Gamut Base LUTS + Gamut 606 LUTS? I mean, how would the 606 would look by themself? I hope my question makes sense hahaha
@joshrexfordАй бұрын
So you only need the base LUT if you’re converting from LOG to Rec709 (or you could use the CST in DaVinci or one of the free Sony conversion LUTs) - the 606 LUTs are creative LUTs, designed specifically to be used on rec709 footage (or converted log footage) so ut would look super washed out if you used JUST the 606 on log footage.

So that’s usually used just as a backup! For the interview my primary was a shotgun mic, for the storytelling session and the wedding day I used on-person lavs in addition to plugging into the board.
