This is such a great scene and so true...many ppl enter affairs for their own selfish reasons...but never find what it is they are really looking for...the end scene when she goes back to her husband she realises she can't run no more...facing up to your responsibilities is the hardest thing...I was alot like May b4 I met my current partner of 7 years...I just realised I didn't wanna run anymore and just found a place where I felt I wanted to stay put...

One of the most subtle scenes where Stanwyck, without a rection, throw away the cigarette Robert Ryan offers. She takes it and throws it over should. Fritz Lang touch.

Ever notice that most cigarettes in this film don't get past one or two puffs? Except the one that the other projectionist took from Barbara before she went in to see Robert for the first time ... he probably finished the whole thing.
