You can live indefinitely on beans, rice and salmon. Those three provide all the nutrients you need to survive. Be sure to freeze the beans and rice for two weeks before storing. We had one can of apple pie filling blow a lid after only two years. It was one of the pop off lids and unfortunately, too many cans come that way now, but try to avoid.

While I agree with your choices, I would add brown rice sealed in vacuum-sealed packaging. If one has a distiller or Berkey Black water filter, I would disagree with low salt and sugar. I assume that if the shit hits the fan, one will need energy which sodium and sugar both provide, and I have never heard of anyone in a disaster of any kind being concerned about a diet or weight loss. We need sodium to survive so we have a full container of salt with iodine in our emergency stock.

I enjoyed this video. But forget the ‘expiration date’ nonsense. As long as the food is still airtight, it’s fine! Even 100 years from now. May not taste quite as good, or may have lost some nutrients, but still a lot better than an empty belly. In going through my grandma’s basement, after she passed away, we found some home-canned peaches and green beans that had been canned 45 years ago. The seal was still good and the beans and peaches tasted fine.

Those dates on the cans are really more of a suggestion… if you look up why all of our food has dates you’ll realize it’s not a hard and fast rule.. open it, smell it, if the can is intact , no mini explosion when you open it and it smells good - it’s good! We don’t even look at dates in my house 🤣😂🤣 … also some things even if it isn’t fit for human consumption can be fed to chickens or pigs. Go for zero waste !

Most foods lose a lot of nutrients in the canning process. You failed to mention that. Salmon is the exception to that, it retains nearly all its nutrients during canning. Canned vegetable nutrients don't survive the canning process well at all. Yes they retain nutrients well in a can, but the nutriin level of canned veggies is low. Reality check, amino acids ARE proteins. So saying chicken had protein and amino acids is saying they have protein and protein
@SurvivalScope1016 күн бұрын
@dog-thebackwardgod - No, amino acids ARE NOT the same as proteins; amino acids are the building blocks that make up proteins, meaning a protein is a chain of many amino acids linked together, similar to how beads form a necklace when strung on a string; essentially, a protein is a larger molecule composed of smaller amino acid units. Key points: Amino acids: Individual molecules that serve as the basic units for building proteins. Protein: A complex molecule formed by linking many amino acids together in a specific sequence. Also, canned vegetables can be just as nutritious as fresh vegetables, and in some cases even better. Nutrients retained: Canning preserves many nutrients, including fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K, as well as minerals, protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Antioxidants: The canning process can increase the amount of antioxidants in certain vegetables, like tomatoes and corn. Shelf life: Canned foods have a long shelf life, which can be beneficial for people who often throw away fresh produce. However, canning can also cause SOME nutrients to be lost, including: Water-soluble vitamins: The high heat used to seal the can can damage water-soluble vitamins like B and C. Added substances: Some canned foods contain added salt, sugar, or preservatives. To maximize the nutrition from canned vegetables, you can: Choose "no salt added" and "BPA free" varieties. Consider that the temperature at which you store your home-canned food can affect nutrient retention. However, we do appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and for interacting. Be safe!

Meat should be your #1 item to stock up on. Beef of pork are better than chicken due to the higher fat content. High fat fish like salmon are better than the leaner tuna. You will need high calories, protein, and fats to survive an emergency. Low cal. low fat are what you want to avoid. # 2 beans. Combined with rice will boost the protein content of your meals. Along with the minerals the added protein will allow your meat to go farther. Vegetables are important for health so they are worth having. They provide little calories and little protein for the cost so I would buy them only after you are well stocked with meat, beans, and rice. While it's not a canned item, rice is a must have and is far more vital than veg or tomatoes. By rice before worrying about tomatoes. Magic Prepper has a very good video breaking down the best nutritional bang for your buck when it comes to canned foods. He gives a very good breakdown by calories vs cost. Good luck and God bless.

Studies have shown that honey can inhibit many types of bacteria, including salmonella, shigella, H. pylori, and E. coli. Wound healing: Honey has been used topically to treat burns and promote wound healing. Cough relief: Honey can be effective in reducing the frequency and severity of coughs. It may be as effective as some over-the-counter cough medicines, and it's a good alternative for children over 1 year of age. Anti-inflammatory: Honey contains flavonoids and polyphenols, which can help reduce inflammation in the body. Antioxidant: Honey contains antioxidants that contribute to its health benefits. The one thing that I’ll point out that you’ve hinted at here but didn’t say in the Honey segment, is that Honey has such good anti-bacterial properties that it can be used in wound care. In this respect , I understand Manuka Honey is best in terms of an anti-bacterial agent. Manuka is expensive, but keeping a wound from becoming infected in an emergency situation makes it worth it. I keep 2 jars of Manuka for this medicinal purpose, and keep separate local raw honey for eating. Cheers. 👍
