We’ve been having those hot summer days in Montana too. And I tasted this apple for the first time in an apple nursery here and I thought it was an amazing apple too.. I didn’t feel that it was super sweet. What I tasted was a very unique flavor and I would never compare it to a Swizzler, but there is a tartness to the sweetness. One of the better apples that I’ve tasted. I love the cosmic crisp, but this is running a pretty close second.✝️🍎

University of Maryland recommends some fruit trees for us in Maryland but they also list about 10 different chemicals that you need to spay every 10 days. Nothing grows well her except Barries.

Does planting the resistant trees next to the susceptible ones have any downsides? If your susceptible tree gets a disease, does it increase the chances of the spreading to the resistant trees?

I finally figured out all those vegetative rootstock whips and suckrrs can be easily rooted for free rootstock. Perfectly legal as long as you don't sell them.

Hope everthing is goine well with you. We miss you. Best wishies. I'm in bloom here in north Texas. I've sprayed twice with antibiotic for fireblight prevention, and it looks like there's a potential for a good season. I hope the same is true for you.

I have 2 apples one is loaded with japanese bugs and looks dead by the end of June then all of a sudden the little apples dries up. I think its the bugs primarily eating the leaves and possible disease. This yr i will cover rhe whole tree with bug netting c what happens the spray dont help much.

I would love to know if these apples are fruiting well and taste good. I have grafted some crab apples here in the UK. However, I read an article that said that the fruit grafted onto crab apples can end up tasting astringent or bitter and take on some of the characteristics of a crab apple. Mine haven't fruited yet but will be great to know how yours taste and your experience seeing as this video was 12 years ago and I imagine you have fruit now.

Beautiful video and I love love the music. I'm preparing to graft a sentimental pecan variety "unknown" from my grandmother's old land. Big oblong tasty pecans. I really want to have this type of pecan tree In the future. Awesome to see you've accomplished this. So inspiring! Peace N Love

Have a "mini" orchard with 11 trees, plum, apples, peach and pears. PC showed up two years ago and was really bad this year. I was turned off by the shipping cost of Surround so bought small 1 pound bag of no-name kaolin clay on Amazon. When I sprayed it clogged my sprayer (came with no instructions) so used Surround instructions off of internet. When I cleaned my expensive battery back pack sprayer found sand in bottom of tank from cheap clay. Bad news for electric pump. Also I was worried with the blocking of photo synthesis with the clay, it must block a good percentage of rays. Thanks for the video and sharing knowledge. There must be tons of us out there with the same problem.

Nothing compares to fishing string when it comes to deterring birds flying!!!! I learned this while at the beach one summer. All the locals had fishing string tied up so the seagulls wouldn’t come around. I’ve been doing it ever since and something about they are scared to get caught in it??? I guess you’d have to throw fishing line all around each tree though and not sure how that would work??

I planted honey crisp I added pit moss manure fertilizer and had similar yellow leaves for two years and yellow reddish body. I thought it had to much nitrogen than I added simple sand to make it some acidic and yep that did fix it in the same year believe it or not . I’m not sure if sand fixed it or tree got more mature !!! Now is doing well with dark leaves and greenish body .

If your having problems with disease and pest then it's because your trees aren't healthy. Fix your soil and you won't have to spray them.
