1. I planted 7 fruit trees (replants for dead trees) and 12 nut trees yesterday. Apple trees are in silver tip stage. 2. That's a tent caterpillar, I believe. They will travel along the ground after dropping out of a tree. 3. The Stem of the king blossom will often be larger and oval shaped, and very fleshy-looking. My Gala always gives larger caliper stems on the king bloom. 4. I always have to spray for plum circulio just before and just after blossom time or my apples are just destroyed by them. Might be because they like my sandy soil.

Prof.Kent likely that is a tent caterpillar. Man can they eat. Curculio will hit me right after petal fall and that’s when I’ll hammer them for the first time. I’m surrounded by woods which is favorable habitat for curcs. What nut trees did you plant?

@@troutfishholland 4 Northern Pecan & 4 Butternut inside the new orchard fence and 4 Chinese Chestnut by the cabin orchard. The chestnuts are away from the house because when they bloom they smell like cat urine, or so I've read.

Prof.Kent I believe butternut produce juglone so be careful where you plant them. They don’t produce as much juglone ad black walnut though

@@nhmountains5683 Thanks for the info. I looked into it. Fortunately, where I planted them no fruit trees or garden plants (tomato, potato, asparagus) are or will be nearby.
