Does your car have no underbody protection? My 1.4 AUA doesnt have one and i have the code 1SA in the service manual. I wonder if thats the reason for the missingunderbody protection....?

I adore these cars ....I however doubt his prediction of an investment....I bought a mint example here in the UK this year with the best engine (1.4 tdi) with only 58,000 miles for 4k ....so not quite as good as he's saying re investment....but it's a brilliant car ...and I don't care what it's worth

Great to hear about this update! Do you still have the SL? I'm guessing the new mystery car is a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. If I were to choose a proper Bentley for me, it would be the Arnage T. Still a proper Bentley with the old 6,75 litre V8 and very little VW switch gear. The Continental is a fine car, but yeah, too much VW.

Hello Fraser, MOT this Tuesday for my MG TF. It failed. Top right front ball joint. Lower Ball joint was advisory. Always get it done at a MG garage just 10 minutes up the hill from me, so I bought all the bits I needed there. Back home 2pm, Hub off and in shed about 4pm. (I have done this before). Did my weekly walk to shops. Had meal. New top ball joint in the hub by 7pm. Wednesday, 9am. Now; There are two options for the lower ball joint, 1. Replace the whole wishbone, or 2. Drill out three rivets and just remove and refit the end ball joint bit. Held with nut and bolts instead of rivets. I went with option 2. Alternating with 5mm and 10mm drills and chisels and punches, got the old thing out. If you are reading this expecting me to then have some kind of disaster, no; New ball joint went in and bolted up fine. Poped up to the garage for a new "Pinch Bolt".Hub back on, and everything else done by 2pm. Thursday; Retest, pass. Had to put new rear subframe mounts on last month, so tracking needed to be done. Car feels really good now. And then there's the Puma...

No filter change? This 7 speed CVT has no filter that you need to change when you change the oil ?
@dukeofhuzza
@dukeofhuzza Ай бұрын
Nope - the filter is buried deep within the CVT transmission and requires serious dismantling of the gearbox itself. This generation of CVT doesn't have any "speeds" as such anyway. Do you maybe mean the 7-speed DSG? That definitely has a filter that can easily be changed when doing a fluid change.

I understand what you say about not filling up the oil filter, but o like to put a smear of oil on the rubber seal to make sure it provides a good tight seal against the engine.

I've always maintained that driving the water pump from the cam belt was a lousy idea. My wife's Audi A4 suffered a catastrofic cambelt failure caused by the pump gland leaking and degrading the belt with hot water. Thanks for the interesting video, and I wonder if there are openings for trained ferrets to reach otherwise almost inaccesible parts! Cheers!

I've always considered that driving the water pump via the timing belt was a crap idea. This was brought home to us somewhere in central Portigal when wifey's A4 cabrio developed a bad water leak and we tried to get home by stopping every few kilometres and refilling the cooling system. The timing belt finally fell apart in mid Spain and we eventually got the car home on a recovery truck (long story). I decided to try and repair the engine myself (well, I couldn't make it any worse!) Luckily, the pistons were OK and I just had to replace 6 of the 20 valves, the cylinder head gasket and the timing belt, pump and tensioner. The Audi A4 1.8 litre 4 cylinder engine is mounted 'north to south' and not transverse, which made the job slightly less of an absolute pig. The service history that came with the car mentioned the belt, but not the pump. I didn't realise at the time that the pump was driven by the belt, I assumed it was like my Rover 45 diesel and driven from the crank shaft. Moral: Always, always, always replace the pump when the belt is replaced. It's folly not to do so! Cheers!

Make sure you research the exact procedure for your own vehicle - there can be differences! Don’t forget the final level check/fill process should be done at the correct gearbox oil temperature and with the engine running. Good luck!

I understand where you're coming from in thinking that these wonderful little cars could be a good investment, however there is some risk in seeing it that way. "Exit values" may be adversely impacted by increasing restrictions on cars with internal combustion engines in a growing number of cities. Also, as these cars go from 20 years old to 30 years old, there's a an added level of complexity to the repairs that need to be done. More major components will need replacement. Although I'm tempted to buy one of these, I've been stung before by old cars and am skeptical whether the numbers will add up over time.

@@maciejkarpinski708 I bought my little Amulettred A2 1.4 TDI in Dec. 2021, in bad condition with bad maintenance for 1300€. It is equipped with red leather interior, OSS (working), automatic climate control, Heated front seats, Audi „part active“ sound system (gorgeous), Radio Syphonie (changed to RNS-E with Media-Button and Audi Music Interface), cruise control. I drove it a while and painted it now (because of bad condition). I also put in brand new rear and front lights and both bumpers! Next step will be, rebuild the (until now perfect) running 75HP engine with little more than 400000km. The average Diesel consumption is actual 3.7 l/100km, on long distance it reach easy 3.4l/100km. I never will sell that car again. Today there’s no other car, that can compare to that little Audi (and no eu6-car can compare in terms of reliability)

I think this description of the Autobahn is fair. In practice, as a visitor from the US I was certainly impressed by the very high standards the roads are maintained to. The going fast part of it is alluring but I think a lot of people have a fantasy of a relaxing blast down the road at 100 MPH with no effort. While you might at times be able to maintain that speed, the reality is that you will almost always have somebody in a supercar flying up behind you very aggressively if you spend any time in the left lane even when you are properly and actively overtaking other traffic. And you absolutely must get out of the left lane as quickly as possible and often you are back to needing to plan your next pass within 30 seconds. It's hardly what I'd call relaxing. It's pretty frenetic and tiring even though it's all pretty orderly and disciplined.
