My dad taught me to put all the fasteners that I remove into a receptacle because they can get lost so easily. A month ago I helped change a friend’s wife’s car’s tire out on a remote road, and I took care to make sure the bolts were put in a cup so that they didn’t vanish into the weeds. I thank Dad every time.

Back in the old days it used to be quite a common practice to spray old engine oil onto the chassis to help prevent rust. My early Land Rovers used to do that automatically.
@robt21515 жыл бұрын
@Richard Harrold It was a common assertion that Land Rover Series vehicles would always seep oil from various parts of the drive train, and this oil then got sprayed around under the vehicle as it was driven. Indeed, it was often said that if your Land Rover didn't drip oil then there was probably no oil in it! Having said that, my 1984 127 which has RangeRover running gear does not leak any oil at all so I guess that they cured the problem with the higher-spec vehicles.

OMG!! More please!!! Of course, I want to learn about organ articulation and pedaling, but I most definitely need to know how an oil change is done!! Don’t think I’ll ever do this myself, but at least I know now what’s being done at the garage! Can you show us how to change a tire? What’s an alternator? What really happens when you start a car??? Thanks Fraser... this is wonderfully educational!!🌺🚗

oh, so i have to watch out now, and be very careful not to mix the channels, or else i might find myself under my organ, trying to change the oil...

I took a car maintenance evening class a few years back and have become a convert to using garage gloves to keep the hands cleaner - well worth the modest cost... Looking forward to further posts - I'm now a fan of both channels!

Enjoyed watching this. The only thing I may have done or mentioned was to run the engine to warm up the old oil first. That would allow it to run out quicker.

Did I just watch a video about changing oil from the beginning to the end?🤔 My car doesn't need it changed because it burns it like crazy!

Informative and entertaining video! I've been enjoying your Organ channel, and was pleasantly surprised that you also like cars! Music Making and Garage Mucking are two of my favorite interests also - I've been restoring a 1962 Studebaker GT Hawk since 2016 - stored in a barn since 1973. My first project was emptying the trunk and space beneath rear seat of 2 buckets of black walnuts! Now to un-freeze the engine and decide if extensive body work is worth my investment.

Yes in the US they are called glow plugs, and we have to have an inspection either every year or every 2 years depending on when the license plates are due for renewal.

In Texas, where I live, the Annual Safety Inspection is commonly referred to as a “State Inspection”, required on vehicles older than 2 years. Owners must show proof of insurance or personal equivalent before the inspection. Only vehicles that pass inspections may be licensed to operate on public roads.

Be careful to not mix up the two channels... One might end up with a slippery organ.

I brauche auch so nen Overall....

In the US (and Canada) they don’t make you take your car through an inspection unless it was a) a write-off in a car accident and you want to re-register it, or b) is being registered in a different state or province. You should see what’s allowed to be driven on the roads. Vehicles being held together with duct tape, bumperless cars...

JewelBlueIbanez in New York, cars have to be inspected annually

That's incorrect, it varies from state to state. SC has not inspections, but NC does. etc.

Great video! 2 questions: how do you clean your hands after changing oil before playing the pipe organ and what about the objects you found that had fallen into the pan (plastic cap and the rubber grommet)? ;)
@maff19175 жыл бұрын
Well I wouldnt use brake disk cleaner because it will kill your skin. I use washpaste with peeling particles and my piano stays white. Iam sure the Video Creator uses a similar technique.
@JewelBlueIbanez5 жыл бұрын
We use GOJO hand cleaner. It smells like oranges and has Pumice in it to keep your hands soft and smooth. Or you could just wear heavy duty disposable gloves like the ones they where in the hospital.
@dukeofhuzza5 жыл бұрын
I have never bothered looking after my hands that much! Tools of the Trade! I do squirt brake cleaner on them to remove oil and then just normal soap! I don’t like wearing gloves to work on cars - I need to feel what I’m doing properly! I’m not the only concert organist to do tho ta like that - a friend colleague in Paris (currently without organ if you know what I mean) is a hobby carpenter. He uses all sorts of saws and sharp tools - much more worrying than a bit of oil!

@dukeofhuzza5 жыл бұрын
