Too much heat just to melt beeswax. I burnt off with that kinda heat. Just my thoughts! Cool projectt.

The wax is supposed to burn, not sure about the correct amount of heat though. I think It's how they make blackened iron in Europe.

Looks good, but no real joinery here. Dovetail, fingerjoint, or even some contrasting splines would elevate the design and add durability. Still very pretty though.

@heyimamaker
@heyimamaker 11 күн бұрын
It's a Canadian brand General. I'm not sure if they're made anymore. But if you're looking for a bandsaw I'd look for one that's 14", mine is 10" but it's a bit small for some tasks.

Nice job building your clock. I’ve done something in walnut accented with maple or birch dowels. Really looks great the pop against dark wood.

I wanted to use brass but I couldn't think of a way to make a nice cut. Maybe I could use my wood lathe and hacksaw blade. But I like the maple walnut idea, even inverting it with a maple clocks and walnut dowels.

It probably would, I actually sent Rockler a Tweet because after this I modified the bit. I enlarged the the hole every so slightly and used a better quality bit. After this board I had made 2 more without issue, no clogging and very little tear-out.

He was using a block plane. It's a small low angle hand plane. A sheet of sandpaper on a flat surface can achieve the same thing
@heyimamaker
@heyimamaker Жыл бұрын
Yup, I was using a block plane. If you keep your eyes open you can find them used for a decent price. But sandpaper will also do the job if you can cut the wood thin enough, but this step isn't necessary.
