My Westie seems to always have center part after grooming- what instruction should I give the groomer?

I've just done my foxie but there seems a hard edge on the leg areas. Any advice for a novice please

Try holding my Scotties head up, like in the first part, and see what happens. Butt slides backwards and paw comes up to rake at clipper hand. She's a really good dog and responds to commands, even when she doesn't want to, however try and groom her and it all goes away.

I do have a Scottie. But in the summer I feel that with all the walks taken fleas as well as ticks might be a problem. No I don't give parasite monthly pills at least only for the extra hot times. I do a shorter trim. She's beautiful the same. I do not walk her in mid afternoon when heat is at the hottest time. A shade back yard is a help.

Thank you! I have the slicker brush but didn’t know when to use it.🤦‍♀️ my 2nd buff/white legs cocker is confounding me. Her hair is much thicker than my first Cocker. I don’t know how often to brush or how to handle the hair on her legs. I would like for her to have a pretty Cocker hairdo, but if I miss two days of brushing her, her legs are matted. And it grows so fast! Her face needs trimmimg weekly. What should I do about her legs? Should I thin with the thinning shears? Do they need to be worked on with a carding tool? I don’t know what to do.😥

I moved recently and am very unhappy with my groomer , I have new groomer set up but they are uncertain how to cut my Scotty for summer it is very very hot here and we enjoy playing in the river to keep cool so how should the cut be

Wow this was sooooo helpful as I'm no professional but have been grooming my Westie for many years. You Tube University! This is great and boy have I been messing up the legs forever. Yeeesh. Two things: I don't see any face/head work here. Is it somewhere else? And I have Andis clippers and have always used the 3 3/4 for his body and the 10 for his anal area, on his foot pads and the tips of his ears. Your body clip looks shorter or as you say, tighter. Do you know what blades I should be using? Is the 3 3/4 correct??? HELP!!!!

How on earth did they let the coats get so huge on this breed! I love the breed but hate the massive coat on them. I have an non registered non show American Cocker with mid length on legs and ears but the body coat is sleek and satiny and she doesn’t pick up burrs easily , is impervious to a light rain and full of instinct and fun and willing to please, quick to learn. I will have to look hard to ever get another like her. Field variety are over active in many cases. My girl with an hour country run is agreeable and happy to settle. Just as quick to be your right hand assistant in anything you are doing as well. Can’t say enough good about her. She is built beautifully too I admire everything about her. Wish the breed would return to proper coat and less exaggerated stop.
