I watched this to understand my friends Terrier and how they manage in hot weather. I learned that most of what I worried about in hot weather with her dogs long hair, actually is helpful in managing the heat. Really enjoyed the video.

We have a 1 1/2 year old american cockerspaniel that we rescued. She really hates getting brushed, especially her legs, and her pits, I'm learning how to hold her skin so that it's not so sensitive for her. so far we have found one of the dematting/deshedding combs that has the hooks at the end to be the easiest, but what is the best thing to use? The wirey brushes she hates. We take her to the beach a lot so I know we need to comb her regularly, but I want it to be a pleasant experience for her.

This it great! What clippers would you recommend for a Westie that is super sensitive and hates being groomed? I think it’s the noise that may be bothering her the most.

Brilliant videos, and so helpful! We have been blessed recently with an 18-month-old Scottie named Robbie who was rehomed with us a couple of months ago. He was very scruffy when we got him, but we have not been successful in getting him a groomer. Out of desperation we bought clippers and at the moment he's a work in progress. He's not as patient as Daisy(!) so we're taking it a bit at a time. We're getting there and are most appreciative of your excellent videos!

We have a rehomed female who came to us totally outgrown and is very uneasy at the groomer. Which leads to not the best grooming job. I bought my own table and grooming kit so I can try to put her at ease and make her look proper. Good on you for taking the same journey!

@@CiaranWilcox We finally lucked out and found a good groomer who has taken time and effort to put Robbie at ease. She had to trim him right down the first time except was able to keep his beard and eyebrows. We brush him daily and he's looking really spiffy. It will take a few months to grow his skirt but we hope by spring he'll look like a real Scottie. We're seniors so trying to groom him ourselves was taking a toll! Best of luck with your girl!

So is that the correct amt of separation between the eyebrows? I thought it would be more didstinct, just making sure. Great video

Try holding my Scotties head up, like in the first part, and see what happens. Butt slides backwards and paw comes up to rake at clipper hand. She's a really good dog and responds to commands, even when she doesn't want to, however try and groom her and it all goes away.

I do have a Scottie. But in the summer I feel that with all the walks taken fleas as well as ticks might be a problem. No I don't give parasite monthly pills at least only for the extra hot times. I do a shorter trim. She's beautiful the same. I do not walk her in mid afternoon when heat is at the hottest time. A shade back yard is a help.

Tyler is so handsome ….., kinda scared to get started but I’ve have horrible experiences with groomers and going to learn how to do this cause it’s going to be so much better for Cam and me. Thanks for your demonstration - you are so kind and gentle when you’re doing this. Very helpful!!!
