Maybe the question could be,” why display art in your home.?” Or, “why have art in your home?” Is what is on your walls only for your pleasure or is it there for others to view? Are you making a “museum “ for visitors and friends? Are you using art to say something about yourself? Are you creating an effect? Is the art you show a part of the esthetic design of the room? Perhaps your art has been given to you by a friend or family member. Maybe it’s your own personal work. Maybe the big oil painting matches the color of your sofa or the walls! There are dozens of reasons why people choose to hang art in their homes. Or choose not to…. Our homes are like the stage set for the drama of our lives. They sometimes reflect our fantasies. Music does the same thing. Do we surround ourselves with 50’s Jazz or country and western music? …the oldies of our youth? Rap? German lieder? I have a friend who loves the images and music of the 1940s. She listens to big band music with crooners, male and female. Noir films. And the art of the period.

If you respond to a work of art and you have it in your home, it can give you a little inspirational lift every time you look at it throughout the day.
