I'm really impressed with your lure-making! Real talent in aesthetics, design, and paintwork. A piggy tail is a confirmation that the knot was pulled. I believe you are possibly using the easy-to-tie Cinch Knot? My grandad taught me to take it one step further, and do the Improved Cinch Knot which is as easy to tie, just one more step is required. No more piggy tails since then. 🐽
@nolansbaits862 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I I am actually using a even further improved clinch knot where you double through the line tie. It has been super solid with every application other than this.

Hello, I don’t know if you’ll see this or not, but I was reminded of our conversation earlier today. Sorry I didn’t respond by the way. But I was talking with dad and Tim Laman who was also on the Aru islands at that time. I thought about how crazy our connection was! They both remembered their time there. That’s awesome man. Too bad you lost it, but it’s great to see you’re making lures still. I too haven’t been making as many lures as often as I used to, but I’ve been forcing myself to make some lately. And I completely understand the whole not knowing what to say to the camera thing, which is one reason why I haven’t been posting videos of my lure making any more, it’s just too difficult to film and make the lures at the same time. Awesome that you are still able to do it though. Keep up the amazing work 👍🏽 (lol, I feel like I sound like and old man saying all that stuff, but oh well)

Tip: Attach to pieces of soft wood to your vice. It won’t damage your lures then. Great video. Glad to see you’re back

True co has instructions in the box. 32(x)/37 x= how much you are doing.

Do you like the tungsten powder over lead? I am thinking about switching to the tungsten powder ,but was not sure how well it works.
@nolansbaits8622 жыл бұрын
It definitely doesn’t work better than lead. But it’s much safer for me and the environment if I lose it. So I definitely prefer it! Some of them are better than others. I actually prefer the t-pow from amazon over the Alumalight.

Your lures are beautiful art, and your dead-pan delivery/commentary is hilarious. Don't feel as though you have to fill every second of video with inane chatter. Your saying nothing with a blank yet exasperated expression when the compressor unexpectedly turned on was perfect, as was the look on your face when you lost the lure. No matter whether lure making, video-making or fishing, do what you enjoy and you'll do just fine. Thank you for the instruction and the entertainment--both top notch.

Welcome back! It's wonderful to see you fired up again about fishing and bait making. I was agraid you had given them up. Your slim, lipless minnow design is obviously something special, as demonstrated by the strikes it consistently draws from big lake trout. Congratulations on hitting just the right combination of shape, swimming action, and coloration. The highly carved, as-yet unpainted baitfish replica you crafted is a true gem, one that puts you up there with our friend Mikko in terms of skill. I hope you'll show it to us again when it's painted. Best, Chris P.S. Here's a trick I use to firmly clamp wooden lure bodies into my vise without damaging them. Just get some scraps of 1"-thick pink or blue Styrofoam insulation board. Cut from these a couple of rectangular pieces somewhat larger than your vise jaws. Use double sided tape to attach the strips of foam to the jaws. You'll find that you can clamp down on wooden lure bodies as tightly as you need to without marring them. As you tighten the vice jaws, the foam will, in fact, form itself to the contours of the lure and hold the bait surprisingly well.
