When did you start believing that your writing could be turned into a movie?

As soon as I realized I wanted to become a screenwriter and before I had ever written one.

Mostly the same response he gave but other people were saying my writing/characters was very "cinematic."

@@filmcourage why even start writing a SCRIPT if you don't believe it can be a movie? Kinda dumb question no?...

Age is a significant advantage when it comes to to art. One’s wisdom and self worth is unshakable to Hollywood producers. Can’t bend the knee the way young and naive people easily do.

So let's give screenwriters their fair share.
@mikewaterfield35993 күн бұрын
Two things to that, First; what is their “fare share” and who gets to determine that? Second; “producers” are in effect glorified check writers and or investors. The most talent they might have is seeing potential in a screen play, actor, and or director. The real point? Much as producers in my eye deserve zero credit for a film, they do deserve dividends on their investment. It is true that without screen writers there is no film. Without producers however, the best anyone is going to make are low budget indi flicks. Its why most modern movies are atrocious. Disney handed a 300m dollar budget to a woman who’s greatest credit to date was a low budget film she called a “documentary” that is better described (yea I have seen it) as an observation based opinion piece. Hell the writing by committee idiocy shows that by and large most people working for studios are not worth their pay. Investment to box office ratios are completely sideways. Amazon spent three times what Peter Jackson spent and the results strongly suggest the budget went into hair dye and designer soy lattes. Like it or not, produces assume enormous financial risk. The writer risks time and effort. Sweat equity is worth a great deal, but unless you really can do it all yourself it wont get a movie made.

Outstanding, concise and insightful interview! Relentless determination is the key to being a successful writer -- and interviewer.

Iv been writing for about 10 years on and off. It’s one thing no one can take from me or control. It’s my happy place when i need to forget the world. I’m 58 look at it this way, no one refuses $100 because it’s old.

I can really relate to this. I started writing at 25. I am now 28 years old and being told "I can't do it" is my greatest fear.

'Thanks' for the positive approach Bill. Do you think using social graces learned on the rugby field is an acceptable response to negative feedback about the chances of succeeding as a writer? "Too bad... I'm doing this (playing/writing) until I win." Brian Couch

Someone needs a video title writer. Maybe "Producers need screenwriters more than screenwriters need producers"? Antimetabole anyone? The ambiguity of the antecedents makes the whole thing confusing.
