The molex connectors on the bekant are definitely a weak point, especially the outer connectors. Mine are really loose and I've resorted to using a ziptie to keep tension on the connection. I think in future I will either hardwire everything or replace the connectors with something more robust.

With the new anker protectors. There’s a selector switch of surge protection or grounded protection. If the surge protection is selected the usb ports don’t charge. They Only work if grounded protection is selected. Doesn’t really make sense to me.

What voltage power supply are you using? I see anywhere from 29-35v. Assuming a 36v would work given the range. Any chance it said anywhere internal which voltages it wants?
@travis-geis10 ай бұрын
It's an unusual setup because the power supply voltage changes when the desk starts moving. I'm not sure why or how they set it up that way. I assume the desk can tolerate the higher voltage all the time, but I don't know if there is some kind of communication that would keep a different power supply from working with it.
@kobayashimaru81145 ай бұрын
I'm powering my legs directly with a DC source (12V battery). I had to use a step-up converter to change the voltage to ~36V to get it to work properly. I assume the original power brick ups the voltage on demand.

Incredibly helpful. Thank you. I was doubting the health of my controller box as I couldn’t get the desk to level up and to rise on one side (no matter how many resets were done). But watching you made me realise it was the motor that was the issue. Long story short: once I lifted the motor I simply wound the leg with a hex key until it was at the very bottom (and thus level with the other leg). After that they worked in sync again.

i like the idea of this and looked at it myself. however, it doesn't look to have the makita battery 3rd pin that is used for overdischarge protection monitoring. the batteries don't include it. it can be something as simple as a n-channel mosfet if you are happy with low side switching. i 3d printed my own including high side switching overdischarge protection in the end. did the same for a makita battery bench PSU
@jed2055 Жыл бұрын
Sam, we aren't charging the battery just drawing current from it. A complicated protection circuit is simply not needed here. How do you think these batteries run drills, grinders, blowers, saws etc? Nothing special is needed for a soldering iron and a genuine Makita battery has protection designed into it. We don't need to complicate what doesn't need to be complicated. Oh, and it's nice that you have a 3D printer . . . lucky you. @RoccoFPV. Yep, I agree 100%. 350c all day every day for leaded solder. Might need a boost for unleaded solder. - It's a pita. The iron has a sleep mode so working temp drops down after a selected time. It's not like the iron is running at 350c while you fiddle with a circuit board.

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by. I recently had more issues with my desk and wanted to make a correction to this video. The contact that touches the motor body was not actually the problem. Instead, the issue was a loose or faulty connection in the plastic connector that plugs into the circuit board. I unplugged that connector and reseated it and the problems went away. If you have reset your desk and checked the power supply and it still doesn't work, check your connectors and try removing and reconnecting them to the motor boards.
@joscelynblevins7442 жыл бұрын

@travis-geis Жыл бұрын
@@kirstensmith1 While holding the button to move the desk, watch the light on the power supply. If it dims to almost invisible when you try to raise the desk, it's probably an issue with the power supply.

I've been using my lipo charger as a power supply for mine. I've been running it at 15 volts and 5 amps. I just discovered it's only rated to do 2.7 amps. oops. It still works fine. I was having trouble getting battery cables loose from an ESC so I increased the volts to 21 volts and 5 amps. That got the heat into the ESC enough to get the battery cables loose.

Just an idea: IF you plan to dis-assemble the desk, it may be a good idea to extend the cicuit wires to the motors and leave the circuit outside (or put it in a plastic box under the leg). This way you will not have to dismantle the whole thing again if the motors still work. Yes that means the hall sensor too ....
