Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by. I recently had more issues with my desk and wanted to make a correction to this video. The contact that touches the motor body was not actually the problem. Instead, the issue was a loose or faulty connection in the plastic connector that plugs into the circuit board. I unplugged that connector and reseated it and the problems went away. If you have reset your desk and checked the power supply and it still doesn't work, check your connectors and try removing and reconnecting them to the motor boards.

Travis, can you add more details regarding the plastic connector faulty connection from the perspective of someone who know little about electronics but can follow directions really well. 😏

Hi Travis. Thanks so much for this. I'm having the intermittent issue you described initially. The desk goes up about 1/4 " and then stops. It will go down all the way, no problem. How do I check the power supply?
@travis-geis Жыл бұрын
@@kirstensmith1 While holding the button to move the desk, watch the light on the power supply. If it dims to almost invisible when you try to raise the desk, it's probably an issue with the power supply.

I didn't need to rough up the contact, I simply followed your instructions for how to reset my up/dn button. Success! Very easy. Thanks.

Incredibly helpful. Thank you. I was doubting the health of my controller box as I couldn’t get the desk to level up and to rise on one side (no matter how many resets were done). But watching you made me realise it was the motor that was the issue. Long story short: once I lifted the motor I simply wound the leg with a hex key until it was at the very bottom (and thus level with the other leg). After that they worked in sync again.

Thanks, I was not sure why my desk was not working. When you showed off the reset feature that was what I needed to fix it. Was worried it was a motor issue because the power supply was reading the correct voltage.

The molex connectors on the bekant are definitely a weak point, especially the outer connectors. Mine are really loose and I've resorted to using a ziptie to keep tension on the connection. I think in future I will either hardwire everything or replace the connectors with something more robust.

Very helpful video, thanks. If one contact isn't good, would it stop both motors from trying to engage? When we push either button, there's no attempt by the motors whatsoever.

Hi, do you know where to buy this 2 buttons controller? it stops working and the problem seams to be in this box

After reseting mine went down only one side, so I had to stop and open up and manually lowered the table to the lowest. Now I hear clicks when I press the down button only. Nothing happens with the up button. I tried resetting by pressing both buttons or the down button for 10sec. Any ideas to try?

Just an idea: IF you plan to dis-assemble the desk, it may be a good idea to extend the cicuit wires to the motors and leave the circuit outside (or put it in a plastic box under the leg). This way you will not have to dismantle the whole thing again if the motors still work. Yes that means the hall sensor too ....

What voltage power supply are you using? I see anywhere from 29-35v. Assuming a 36v would work given the range. Any chance it said anywhere internal which voltages it wants?
@travis-geis10 ай бұрын
It's an unusual setup because the power supply voltage changes when the desk starts moving. I'm not sure why or how they set it up that way. I assume the desk can tolerate the higher voltage all the time, but I don't know if there is some kind of communication that would keep a different power supply from working with it.
@kobayashimaru81145 ай бұрын
I'm powering my legs directly with a DC source (12V battery). I had to use a step-up converter to change the voltage to ~36V to get it to work properly. I assume the original power brick ups the voltage on demand.

How did you open the cover to expose the motor?

It should lift straight up. I used a suction pad to avoid bending the plastic.

You probably thought to do so... but I told you just in case: put a cable from that flexible plate to a screw of the motor, that should make perfect contact and avoid this problem to occur again
@travis-geis2 жыл бұрын
Good idea! My desk actually stopped working again, so I repeated this process and I did add a cable. Unfortunately, after I put it back together, it stopped again. I am not sure what's going on yet, and I am still investigating. I do still think it has something to do with the motor contact, but it isn't as simple as the connection being made or broken. When I block the motor contact entirely, the desk still moves, but after some time it stops working. Then shorting that contact to the motor with e.g. a screwdriver makes it work again. Could it be static or something like that?

Maybe try soldering the contacts?

Mine just moves a bit then stops. If I keep pressing, the table moves a little bit again. Maybe a blown capacitor ? Any ideas ?

Mine had that issue when the power supply was faulty. I ended up getting a replacement supply under warranty, and that problem was fixed, but later on I encountered the issue in this video where the desk stopped moving completely.

You could check that the power supply light stays on when you try to move it up. If the light dims or goes out, you might need a new power supply.
