Love your video, you are skillful and good at your craft. Just inherited an E24 1989 BMW 635csi that I have to sell. It has lots of electrical issues, but I am 75 and not mechanically / electrically inclined any more; especially with European cars. Don't have the equipment either. It would be fantastic if you or some other Bimmer enthusiast would want to buy this and give it a good home and an enthusiastic capable owner/driver.

Those stands you used for the car are awesome. Are they made from 2x4s or something?

Hello from BC, Canada!!!!! Great project car guys! You gotta love the troubleshooting phase where you discover all the old owner "homegrown fixes" hehe. That's half the fun though :)

Great Video, This may be a stupid question but I am pretty new on this, can I use a 2.5 engine that came from an automatic car donor if my mx5 is manual or it does not matter? I was thinking about doing the same swap, but most of the good car donors I find are auto.

These BMW’s from the 80’s and back have two CR123 batteries in the speedometer cluster that go bad …. They can stop the alternator from charging and numerous other things…. Change them out or get delete board for your cluster

24:59 that looks like a JB racing flywheel! I just bought one used for $150 and sent it out to their warehouse in FL with an oem m5 luk clutch kit. They go for $900+ now so your car definitely came with some goodies

I’ll bet the spark plug coming apart had more to do with detonation than anything else, you probably had a vacuum leak near that cylinders intake port.

This was like half my childhood with my dad. Just radiators and wheels and crap lying in the living room. I saw some strange and wonderful things going around looking for rare parts. I remember one guy who only did Jaguar stuff. Uncle Hugh. His whole property and the inside of his house was full of car crap. He would sleep on the porch. Apparently he used to be an architect but he went rough.
