Im sorry but you’re just being mean and disrespectful in type 3 There are people who actually feel like that and they don’t want attention but are very depressed and really feel that way about themselves, even if they’re dont have self respect it doesn’t give you the right to disrespect them and talk about them like that.

I know someone like the third one who brings up how much they hate their art and themself when i start talking about my own art or sharing it. It’s really bumming me out but they mean alot to me. I don’t know what to do abt it, i feel like they would take me asking them to stop telling me that very personally

9:00 I know what you mean but as someone who has depression and is medicating I dont agree I get it but saying "its not like that" doesn't work especially when you deal with experiences that tell you otherwise (I get it its hard to understand when you haven't been there no hate) but when you get crying on the floor 2 times per day everyday you feel useless its horrible and people just say those things because they feel inferior no matter how much validation they get (or atleast this is my experience) <3

I'm pretty much a self deprecating artist but rather than it being me hating on my art, it's more towards how my art has been treated compared to other artists within communities. I've been in communities where there was so much favoritism and artists who are more well known and popular got more praise and support, and while it's understandable, it made me feel left out and like I'll never be able reach their level of amazing no matter how much I improve or put myself out there. There've been multiple times where I was ignored in discord servers or overlooked even when I put my heart and soul into my art in hopes it'll make people happy. That's really all I want to do as an artist, make people happy doing something I love like how my favorite artists made me happy doing something they love, but oftentimes it feels like I'll never be anyone's favorite artist because it seems what I have to offer is just not as interesting as others

I personally agree with all of these in an extend. other artist’s actions i don’t like are: people who draw nsfw stuff, the ones that get super defensive over their art if you in any way comment on it The ones that draw only one thing over and over again and get upset why it isn’t receiving reg attention they wish for People who say any form of tracing is cheating (I’m referring to tracing of small parts, like a hand pose) The ones that beg you to buy a commission from them And then the ones that are far from humble*. I am referring to the people who are full of themselves and either can’t take constructive criticism, when they ask for it, or can’t phantom that not everyone likes their art. (*Putting yourself down isn’t being humble)

I have had that experience before with many self deprecating people before and in a sense it has lead me to kind of hide in my corner to be left alone or to never show my own art too people like that since they would go on about how much better i am than them which feels uncomfortable to say the least. I think anyone who enjoys making art are genuinely good at it and should be proud no matter what level you are at as it strengthens the relationship one has with another artist and feel more open to talk about things and show each other their progress. I've sadly been dragged into the hole to help people before time and time again until recently which i can def say that its very draining and you end up just kind of become unable to really react to their bs. I'm glad to be out of that hole though and am doing much better in general :> No one should insult these people as i do believe that they may not be mentally stable and need professional help which should be the focus and pushed to them to take such actions if this is how they handle things on a daily bases. but i wouldn't do the things i did and try and convince them when they clearly don't want to change or listen to you, it is best to either avoid them or put it simply and walk away seeing as if you are mentally unwell, you shouldn't take care of another unwell person in the process

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t self deprecating/destructive. I definitely am, ESPECIALLY with my art. As a kid, I loved to draw, it was my passion and favorite thing ever. I drew everywhere, even at school, on any blank piece of paper I could find. My classmates never liked my art, & my friends at the time weren’t very supportive either. I was very discouraged when they would compliment the other artists in our classes; obviously I was happy for those other artists but I felt like I was also deserving of it too. I kept that all to myself though, I never told them how I felt. As I got older I started realizing how much I hated myself and my art. When I created an IG account to post my art I purposely added captions with things like “It doesn’t look too good but ___” etc. in hopes that someone would compliment it. I’ve been doing this for so long because I want validation. It got to the point where I attempted suicide last year. There was someone in my life who I liked (I’ve moved on and found someone better, I just want to share this part as well) and we were both artists. I felt jealous when he complimented others’ art and not mine 24/7. I wanted to be his favorite artist. Looking back now it was stupid, but I still haven’t learned my lesson. I can’t enjoy my art anymore because of this. But I keep drawing because I can’t get better if I don’t continue. I acknowledge this is a VERY unhealthy and harmful mindset. I’ve been like this for 6 years and I wish I could help myself. My friends and family are tired of it, even I am.

I think my main type of artist I don't want to be friends with is the dollface artist as I've grown to call them. The people who draw the same body type and eurocentric face on every character and say they don't draw others because it's "not their art style." In truth, anyone can draw any type of person regardless of art style. When you limit yourself to only one type of person, it's a personal restriction often influenced by bigotry I can't stand by. Kooleen is an infamous example of this who says they only draw sexy people. Almost all their characters are light skinned and on the odd occasion they draw a dark skinned person, they have eurocentric features. I also feel this way about Ross Draws. Mainly because if you look at his male characters in Nima and then his female ones, you get the sense the women are all made from the same doll base with different accessories like a Barbie.

honestly i love art education and i feel like its nessescary if you wanna keep improving your art. if you never get official education from somewhere ur art will stagnate at some point. u might be ok with ur art when it gets to that point and thats fine no ones making you improve your art skill but i am autistic as hell about art :) catch me in figure drawing class making charcoal sketches so i can shade furries better edit: u dont need to go to college to do this either!!! watch class recordings take a skillshare class look up common art assignments and do them on ur own time!!! possibilities are truly endless

hold up, why does the title say artists but you include ai prompters and art theives/tracers? they arent exactly the typical standard definition of artists... they are more like frauds. some do trace for fun so i am only including the tracers who do it for finance purposes.

One time I made a art friend who wanted to get better at their art and anytime I would help them or give them advice on how approve their art when they asked for it they got angry at me and then later on they became very jealous of me and would not take anything I say to help them
